so generally NSW is a better choice???

i always get stares from the cashier auntie at NTUC whenever i drag like 12bottles of distilled water to the counter..

haha... always help them "clear" their shelves...

I buy 10 cartons at one go. Used a trolley and hauled everything. I'm actually past caring what the people at the supermarket, the security, and my colleagues' comments are. :P Last me for slightly more than a month.

Wow, 10 cartons? That's 120kg! If I recall correctly, your office is very near a supermarket right? Your boss never complain about your water taking up space? :P

Buying DI water for water change is kinda expensive? A 1.5L bottle is somewhere between $0.50-$0.80 already <_<
is the NTUC Fairprice brand the cheapest so far???

or are there cheaper sources?

NTUC house brand water is the most economical so far, $1.25 for 3 bottles, after discount, or $5 per carton of 18 litres. If I'm not wrong, this is cheaper than buying the large 19 litre barreld s of water for water cooler, which is around $6.50 each.

another good alternative will be ordering those big bottle of distill mineral water from those water company like ocean ect..

they will loan you the drinking machine for free if you order a few bottle each time, and delivered to your doorstep. No need to carry the water back..so shack :P

I use the styrofoam box from LFS to hold the bags so that they don't roll around. There is always this fear that they will burst in my boot

Hi Sister and Brother Reefer

Guess is time we should do something about saving GAIA too, we are also hurting her .

Using carton of 1.5 ltr DI water and we are throwing 12 or more plastic bottle away everytime during water change.

Why can we just do abit to help by using DI water in 19 ltr bottle as they just recycle the bottle.I too use to buy by the carton from NTUC .

But now I order from Ocean , deliver to door step no monthly minimum order. Just order what u use. down side is there an deposit for the bottle.

Contact Wilson @ 6253-5888. Not like some supplier need to have minimum monthly order of 6 bottle or so.

happy refeering .

Hahaha true, true... When I was buying by the carton, I looked all over my neighbourhood for recycling collection points, the nearest one was several blocks away and the bins were filled with all sorts of rubbish... It seems that the colourful recycling bins are for show only

We should have a trash collection systems like the US, where home owners on an individual basis, separate their trash according to materials and the refuse company collect them accordingly. If the States, which is not exactly known for their environmental awareness can do it, why can't we? Sorry for the rant :P

Anyway, I ended up salvaging whatever bottles I can by crafting them into funnels, fish traps, loose bit containers etc, and threw away the rest.

i dun throw away the plastic bottles, wat i do is to collect them and put them in my storeroom...so by end of the month, i will have at least 40 bottles in my thrash bag for recycling. But i have switch to nsw last friday, so now it's more environmental friendly and cost effective. Another plus side is, my corals are much happier and less algae growth... :eyebrow:
