Ya a nite bird like me Comycus lol

The delighting one has 2 probes.... gosh.

My whole back wall will seem like a hardware panel.....

Leaning towards Tunze for the time being, just a bracket and a prope clipping on it.

If I had read correctly, it should come with 3 probes instead. I would have chosen DE if I had known earlier... now I'm stuck with JBJ ATO that comes with only 2 float switches. <_<

Quote from the site:

Why having a set of probe in the reservoir?

This is an option that you can choose to have or not to have. The good part of having this option is that the pump will stop if the water level reaches to the Minimum level. This will help to protect your pump from running dry. A Red Light will show on the unit if the Reservoir is lack of water.

This was important for me as my reservoir is rather small. For my case, space is limited.

The acrylic maker are not tank specialist so I need to be very precise with the dimensions which I am not very good with.

Bro, have you leak tested your tank? :P I've read somewhere about reefers checking the workmanship of their acrylic tanks by looking for bubbles within the joints. As mentioned in a previous thread before you bought the tank, I'm a little concerned about warping, as yours is 8mm thick. You might wanna be careful about hanging heavy equipment on the tank...

Btw, what is the output of your light set? T5 HOs come in minimum 2 ft length, so yours might be low output. Unless yours is FL.

i meant 2 probes in the main tank for delighting ato. 1 at the resevoir.

For Tunze, i think the probe can be hidden inside the surface skimmer cleaner. Need to find out more.

But agree, the DE seems to be good value for $$.

Yeah leak tested. all good and left with a few bucket of water than I do not know what to do with it.

The joints are clean with no bubbles. They do have experience with making tanks. Just that they are not specialist to advise what is the size of IOS needed etc. you need to provide them with the specific dimensions. I consulted Dama and they suggested that I make a 6mm tank. But Henkebe advised making a 8 mm one to prevent warping. But I guess I will know in a few weeks.

Yeah my T5 is 2x 16W. quite weak.

bro why not get those clip on MH? Think the pricing is quite reasonable. Then can have the nice shimmering effect too.

Was about to get the viper but changed my mind due to the following:

1. the fixture gets very very hot = shorter lifespan for product.

2. Worried about arm loosening over time.

3. I am clumsy, might knock the light into tank during maintenance

4. Not decided on MH or LED

5. Do not wish to strain the acrylic with too many hand-ons on the back wall.

6. Think it will look a little cluttering with the arm stretching over the tank. Trying to keep the tank as open and neat as possible.

If you are not too concerned about aesthetics, you can consider T5 HOs that come in 2 Ft sizes. Otherwise, LEDs would be the best (comes with a huge price tag though... -_- ). You could also try FLs that come in 1.5 ft length @ 24W. Try Petmart if you're interested, but do give them a call first to see if there is stock available. Depending on what type of corals you plan to keep, lighting will play a crucial part to their health and survival.

Will look weird with 2 ft light hanging over a 1.5 ft tank. Umm FL... nvr though of that, I think it is not the Watts that is critical.

I will be going slow anyway. So for the 1st 3 - 4 months, the T5 I have should be sufficient for main mushies.

LED / MH should be obtained early next year.

Who knows, if my girl dictates, this might end up being a fish only tank :P

My fishes wish list

neon goby

purple firefish / or better still Helfrichi firefish

Hahaha... mine's like this, with the side jutting out of the tank perimeters. That's why I mentioned the aesthetics part. :P

I'm also interested in your sessions for the DIY LED lighting, but the location is too far for me. Will be looking forward to your updates! :eyebrow:

haha chromis are supposed to be peaceful... but mine is like mafia gang... especially the mafia boss... getting more and more aggressive. Need to add a bully soon to keep them in check.

Damsels are too active for my liking... somehow when i see a tank with damsels, i get more stressed. (with the exceptions of clowns)

They are too active. I had a shoal of chromis once.... when feeding time comes, all behaves like hooligans lol

non feeding time, think i recall some of them pickering among themselves. Maybe I just got the wrong bunch.

OK we are really messed up now, we are talking about your tank in my thread and my tank in your thread.

Gettting some rock from Sisreefer + live sand...... I do not think there will be any cycling period :)

The other thing, I am still considering whether to leave the chiller outside the cabinet.

Think it will have a longer lifespan that way not more clutter outside. Wife might complain.....

Also I would prefer to put all the pumps/ skimmer in place first before filling in the water to minimize the possibility of wetting the floor.

Slowly build up the reef lor, this is a lifetime hobby. Do it too fast, then nothing much to play around already.

OOI just realize this your tank thread hor.... not mine ROFL... paiseh paiseh...

Should capture your FTS from time to time then you can see the difference over time....

hahaa damn funny!

will reply here instead since it's your tank heh

Chiller will get quite hot if inside cabinet. Even if there's ventilation at the back, the hot air might not be as conducive. Can trial and error.

Heh the floor will definitely get wet no matter how hard I try to minimize it. These days better already but still will have some splashes here n there. Therefore, best advice I can give u is do your water change when your wife is out of the house! haha n quietly mop the floor after you're done. My mother's quite happy that her floor is actually cleaner now coz I always clean up my mess. <_<

btw just be on the save side n cycle longer :) it's not just the ammonia cycling, unless you're planning to use nsw, your newly mixed water will be v. hard on corals/LS, would be good to let the tank run n mature... (i think... i'm not a pro at this as well)

yup using NSW and the argonite sand are new as well.

Yes i doubt there will be any noticeable spike but will still be waiting prob a week before i add any livestock in.
