sherman
Did a thorough water test today. salinity 1.025 PH is still swinging from 8.0 - 8.45 (it used to be fluctuate only between 8.1 - 8.3) KH = 7. will need to diligiently increase this to 10 in hope that PH will be more stable. ammonia 0 nitrite 0 phosphate - between 0 - 0.5 I really cannot differentiate the colour. nitrate 10ppm. Strange.. where is this coming from. So lightly stocked. Calcium 420 - great. Will try to increase this to approx 450. Magnesium only 1100. I have not been adding mg because I did not have the tester. Now I can proceed and value should increase over the next 2 weeks. Question: I have seen PH buffers. Are these added to hold PH at a constant level? Will they help in my situation? Push up your MG to 1380 and above KH should be around 9 to 12 CA seems ok. Those buffer can help a little but not much use.Can forget about Buffer Quote 6.5 * 2 * 2 + 3.75 * 1.5 *1.5,(Decomn on 14/9/08) 4*2*2 + 2.5*1.25*1.25 (Decomn on 1/8/09) 5*2*2 (Fully LED light system, 140 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm) 2.5*2*2(Fully LED Light System,96 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm) 5*2.5*2(LED only) Eheim return 1 * pump 1 HP Daikin compressor with cooling coil 2 Jebao OW40, 1 ecotech MP40, 1X6085 Tunze wm, 1 CURVE 7 Skimmer 1 DIY 80 led control by Bluefish mini 1 radion XR30W G2, 2 Radion XR15G3 Sump area lite by 5 ft T5 , 6 * SSC 3 watt red LED for refugium 1 Full spectrum E27 led light 1 CR control by bubble count Start No Water Change since 1st Dec 2016 Add new 2.5x2x 1.5 ft [/quote]

Now its completely gone from my tank. Of course, this is definitely not a substitution for maintaining proper water perimeters! honestly I do not think it is my water parameters. Did a thorough test and they all turn out ok. will look in algae X. Plan to take out the rocks and clean off the hairy algae. Get a tang to eat the remaining algae. Put in more turbo snails. They really require a big space to swim in. Algae problems are temporary, so turbo snails would suffice. Dosing bacteria helps too! I've been using Prodibio digest in conjunction with AlgaeX. I suspect my PH is fluctuating because of this algae bloom I switch off my light and the PH drop from 8.4 to 8.15 in a matter of a few hrs. Had to reduce the lighting period for now.
