you use 400 ml for your 4 feet tank but i understand that it comes in 500ml which i just bought from irwarna.

Currently my No3 was like 80-90 ppm using API test ket.

victor do provide me with a net bag with zip ( though is metal Zip; will it rust)

Are you using the same?

I am having a 2 ft cube so wonder how much should I use? put all 500ml or half.. You weighs 400ml?

lastly, you place it under the wool filter which IS the first compartment where the tank water from main tank comes down? Will it get dirty very easy due to the debris and becomes ineffective?

Lastly, will it cloud water initially when we use it? Any effect on the LS?

Yap.. really a good Stuff and thanks Victor to bring this in.

I have use 400g for my 4 feet and place under the wool filter.

I can see the progress and the NO3 is trending down.

Here is what I read from NO3 tester.

1. With only Sulphur beads, NO3 reading is 50 to 100.

2. With Bio pellets in the tank for 3 days, NO3 reduce to 25 to 50 range.

3. After a week, NO3 further reduce to 15 to 25 range.

Some obvious observation.

Brown algae on Tank glass only happen after 5 to 6 days.. previously is 2 days.

Skimmed Stuff is very dark in colour after Biopellet.

Will share more update if it can go further..

just my inputs here..

i'm also having a 2ft cube..

i use 300ml..

the other 200ml i shared it with another reefer..

initially i tried weighing them,

but i realise, pouring them into empty water bottles with "volume markings" works better..

so thats how i split my packet of 500ml..

if you want, you can try posting online,

i'm sure some of the nano reefers would like to share with you...

not sure if debris will cause it to be ineffective...

lastly, after i placed the bag in,

my water didnt turn cloudy,

and all LS seems fine :)

another question here..

as i was tidying up my sump,

i took a look at the biopellets..

half of them turned pink..

anyone else biopellets turn pink as well?

not sure if my eyes are playing tricks with me in the middle of the night..

hope this is normal,

and its part of the process..

hi bro like to ask u some questions

hmm the bio pellets u place in a media bag right? do I need to stir it even in high flow area occasionally?

also I need to wash it before use right?

thanks

Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.

i assume you put in a filter net in between the return pump(sump) and filter media, high flow area?

God Blessed all who appreciate His wonderful and beautiful creations.

I place the pellet with filter net under the wool filter of my first compartment sump tank..

Should be high flow as all water from main tank flow here first...

That's the problem. The area you have placed the pellets is in a very high flow and it is not advisible to place the pellets there. Shift the pellets somewhere else where there will be constant flow of water over and between/around the pellets. You have to understand that the biopellets work by having bacteria colonize them and the bacteria will feed off the biopellets and this is the solid carbon/vodka dosing that they are talking about.

Thanks alot peter for your comments..

I had shift to another compartment where there is constant flow of water from another compartment downwards..

i can now see some pellets circulating in the net.( Not all of them, some near the top suface is "circulating"

I guess this should be the ideal location. Corrcet me if I am wrong...

Lastly, what cause the cloudy in the water? Any effects on LS?

This will definately be more ideal than your previous location. I believe the cloudiness of the water was due to the water flow being too great previously and thus breaking down the biopellets too quickly. Should not have any effects of your LS.

  • 3 weeks later...

Regarding the bad batch of biopellet, any action from Iwarna to resolve the issues for the customers who bought the bad batch?

My skimmer stopped working for a week, now just started skimming but performance is not comparable to before. Neck of skimmer feels more oily than the other parts, not sure if this is due to the lipid.

The customers are not blaming the lfs who are selling it. But it is good for lfs to initiate customer support in terms of advice, rebates, for those who have purchased the faulty batch.
