Frogfish & shrimp

Very beautiful frogfish! Good specimen. I wonder how much are frogfish these days, when i started it was still very expensive.

Agree with bro dnsfpl, shallow tank is definately better. Anyway the frogfish doesn't need much swimming space.

I also have a friend whose bigger frogfish ate the smaller one. Not sure if the big one died, but that meal cost $150.

Thanks for the info bro!

I recommend getting at least 3 inches and above frogfish, if not very hard to find feeders for him to eat, unless u can train him to take frozen prawn.

The other thing is, Anyone tried feeding their frogfish with freshwater ghost shrimp? Not sure if tt works, the reason why i ask is because the ghost shrimp is small size, smaller frogfish can possibly eat it.

feeding my frog fish with FW feeder shrimp as staple diet

i think they are ghost shrimp

they can survive in salt water for 2-3 hours

anyone has tips to frozen train frog fish?

i have trouble as it is pretty intelligent

i always release the feeder near it but it make sure the feeder swim away from the net before preying

i even tried the fishing method with live bait

it took more than 15 mins before it consume the food

thanks

sharing my months of experience and research in frog fish, still very green

it will eat anything equal or smaller size than itself

but better to feed 50% of its size to reduce the risk of choking

normally it does not do well in a comm tank due to the reason above and

it is very unlikely to catch its prey, esp in predator tank

feeding FW shrimp is better than FW fish as

FW fish contain fats etc that harm SW fish if fed long term as a staple diet

feeding once or twice a week is more than sufficient

if you see the frog fish extending its lure, that means it has settled down

it does better in small and shallow tank as it prey on sand bed

make sure your tank is well covered as it is a great jumper when spooked

it doesnt move about and a lot find it boring

but i find it interesting, esp when it is preying

some find it weird & ugly, but i simply love its unique character & pattern

please dont flame me, all these are just my personal opinion

i just love my frog fish :D

So bro, did you try the dangling method?

In order to ensure that the ghost shrimp carries sufficient nutrients, you may want to gut load them with quality food first. ;)

No tips to keep them alive for long.

You can try feeing them spirulina, they are very nutritious.

Tie some frozen mysis on a string and dangle them in front of the fish. This will work best if you can get PE Mysis which are larger compared to the regular Hikkari Mysis.

It's possible to train n make them take market prawn as my friend had tried before. Cut them to the relevant size n use something to hold it.

Move thru n Flo infront of him. Base on the strong smell + if he's hungry,he should be eating.

Btw,wat I saw at MH selling is a trained wan coz Henry told me it's already eating MP Liao.

Nice collections bro, what happened to them?

Hi bro, I gave them up cause that time still got no car, very troublesome to go lfs 2-3 times a week to buy feeders. But now got my own car, might get 1-2 frogfish in my fowlr tank. I am still finding a way to isolate the frogfish as i intend to keep other fishes and I cant build a 3rd tank.

Thanks bro, yea its nice to have a few of them all in the same community tank. Very cute. So will u be getting your frogfish?

Huh... Dun isolate la. I also wanted to keep wan but thinking of my other fishes I give up the idea. Frogfish r mend to mix around with rocks n coral so as to have that camouflage effect. If isolate Liao no meaning Liao coz 1 glance can c. If wan isolate I long ago keep lo. Haha. Anyway this is just my personal preference.

Sea horse I think might work. Frog is more to sea bed where as the horses might at time go to bottom but most of time doing in the middle of water level unless u got branches at the bottom where it will stay there.
