Live sand - 10 KG should be enough Live rocks - you can get it at most LFS.. how much? - depends on your scaping Lightings - suggest you to get 2 x 15watt corals - good choice to start with these 2 first and try others once your corals are doing well and you think you can take a step further hermit crab - not really recommended unless you place a few empty snail shells around in your tank so that it can change shells.. wavemaker - try K nano http://aquamarin.com.sg/productsDetail.asp?productid=862 Quote A man with a reef tank is a man with an empty wallet... SRC Member albinosage Posted June 16, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted June 16, 2010 Live sand - 10 KG should be enough Bro, I think 5KG should be enough for a 1.5 inch sand bed. I'm guessing the Boyu 1ft IOS cube is either 9G or 12G, putting 10kg of sand will easily take up 1/4 or 1/5 of the tank height liao haha. SRC Member albinosage Posted June 16, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted June 16, 2010 LOL 10kg of sand in your tank is 1/2 the volume! Taking into account the IOS, your display area will be very small. Got to choose your livestock carefully. Quote My 1.5ft nano cube My 24G nano tank (Decommed) I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. SRC Member albinosage Posted June 16, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted June 16, 2010 Regarding the difference between live sand and normal sand: live sand is packaged and sealed with the live bacteria from where it is collected, while normal sand is just that.. sand. The product packaging for live sand claims that it will speed up cycling, but IMO it doesn't make such a big difference, since normal sand will become "live" once you cycle the tank cos bacteria will colonise it. I choose the sand based on the colour and texture I want, whether it is live or not doesn't make a big difference Quote My 1.5ft nano cube My 24G nano tank (Decommed) I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. SRC Member Evolutionz Posted June 16, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted June 16, 2010 oh.. so i guess i'll go for the cheaper alternative of normal sand.. and yes.. swiming space is rathe small.. maybe i'll skip clownfish since i think they grow rather big.. maybe goby or some sexy shrimp?
