My 1.5ft Reef Log III

Hello. Carrying on where i left off. It has been almost a year since I started neglecting my tank. Was busy with work and then we had a major crisis over my baby's health. Thank God for his blessings and healing hands. Everything is good now. I have more work life balance now with the addition of 5 headcounts and my baby princess is recovering well.

So.... back to reefing ....

Was contemplating decomming as my tank has virtually turned into a live rock exhibit. At the same time, was also thinking of upgrading.. Those who have been at this crossroad definitely will understand the contradicting thoughts... decomm... upgrade... decomm..... upgrade.... really WTF.....

Then I saw the Mazarra thread..... wow ...... I am actually one of those techie nerd..... sometimes i believe i am more into gadgets than reefing.... :P. Then a close friend of mine ordered a new tank and I was helping them with the purchase and set up and slowly.... i just had the urge to restart all over again. As I am still undecided what sort of tank i want next, i have decided to stick with my old eqpt and tank for the time being. And so my voyage begins again .... for the umpteen times.

Last Friday. Cleaned up all the the eqpt with vinegar, wash up the tank. rescape my remaing rocks.

Saturday, went over to CF to get more premium live rocks.

Sunday... Scaping completed :groupwavereversed:

So its back to square one today. :)

The Sandbed - just a thin layer of Caribsea Argonite black sand.

There are slight speckles of white sand which makes it look more natural.

woohoo Jacky ... i know you cannot resist the force  so what will be the concept this time ? :eyebrow:

Hiya Jun. Don't know yet. Definitely do not think it will be very elaborate till I decided on my new tank.

Thinking of a 2ft length x 2.5 ft width (0.5 ft IOS) x 1.5ft height. => There's an IQ3, IQ5 ... mine is the IQ20 :

For the time being, will just keep it simple.... (no promises of course... haha)

:groupwavereversed:

:friends: ..... hehe..... YJ, your office tank is very motivating bro..... tracking it :)

looking forward to your sps set-up this time...

My girls will definitely keep bugging me to buy tons of fishes.... how to keep SPS??

It is about time to sextuple your tank size ... :agreed:

lol.... Hey Luke - how's your QT tank coming?

Your new mega tank leh? ordered?

Welcome back Jacky!

Confirm this time you will stick on?

Don't do a very chim and uptight setup k! Something simple will do already.

Like zoas, xenias etc will settle yah! (:

Hey Marc..... sure. will hang around as long as there are no strong winds.....

simple sounds good ! like just a FOWLR ... hehe

wow!!!! nice.....

Thanks bro !

Nice, looking forward to more picture. =)

Hey Gary..... Sure thing.... pics of live rocks upcoming tonight.... haha

My Live rocks.

I have some left over dead rocks. glued them together to form a scape. They are the rocks in white on the right in the picture below.

The newer ones purchased from CF are the darker coloured ones. I glued these 5 pieces together to form the back drop.

So the new rocks are glued together and the old rocks are glued as another aquascape.

There are sufficient space for the The old rock (white ones) scape to be rotated 360 deg in the space at the front

When I need a new FTS perspective, all I need to do is to rotate or tilt it to any angle desired.

Hopefully this way, there will be less toppling of rocks and yet at the same time, I can get a fresh FTS easily.

These rocks cost a bomb but the shapes are really interesting. Very easy to scape.

Glued using BSI gel. (the white patch in the middle of the picture.)

Bro, I think you gotta off lights and let your rocks cycle through.

Esp if you're using dead rocks. You will be surprised at how bad the amount of nutrients being trapped inside ><

yeah... lights are off. I am not that rich to waste electricity. :P

as for dead rocks, I am not sure if you should term those stuff trapped inside as nutrients... ha...
