Need Advice

Hi guys,

i am starting my marine aquarium after 10 years of break.

Started cycling on 19 March with a shrimp. Ammonia peaked and went to 0 on 2 April.

Nitrite appeared on 28 March and has been there since today. I think its about 1ppm (color is difficult to differentiate the different shades of purple)

Nitrate appeared on 1 April and is staying at 50ppm

Question: is it too early to assume that my nitrogen cycle has stalled? Or is it a normal behaviour?

my setup:

tank: 60x30x45 cm

filter: totto perfect S filter

rocks: dry rocks

no protein skimmer

no light

API test kit for ammonia and nitrite. Salifert for Nitrate

using prodibio biodigest. Dosing every 3 day and 10% PWC every week based on advice from prodibio .

Nitrate is pretty high at 50 for a completed cycle. How do u cycle? Did u just any market prawn or livestocks? Or it's just prodigio?

also u may wanna consider a different test kit. Api ones are not very trustworthy

Alexcfy,

I know it is still in cycling.  Nitrite not moving down. So wondering if cycling has stalled half way?

i throw in a market shrimp in the water and waited till shrimp disappeared.

I tested with my Topup water for nitrite and API able to read zero.

Regards
