Need help on Black ich?

Hi all, I think my yellow tang got Black Ich. She was with me for about 3 weeks. Previously I had a spare tank and didn’t spot any anomaly. Now that I sold my tank. I can’t do a QT. Having a hard time trying to catch her for a freshwater dip.

All suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

‘Black ich’ is actually a parasitic worm. If I’m not mistaken, praziquantel works for this. Doesn’t work on regular ich cause regular ich is a protozoan parasite and not a worm.

Praziquantel should be Reef-safe unless you have ornamental worms in your system. But as with any other treatment a QT is always the most ideal

Yup black ich is a flat worm like planaria. My yellow tang had black ich before.. Luckily in qt though.. But he had to go through 10 days of prazi before the black ich was all gone. Gd luck

Thanks for the replies bros. Took me an hour plus (accumulated) to catch the yellow tang. Tying very hard not to destroy any corals for damage anything lol.

Only managed to dip it for about 3-5nins as he’s showed a bit of stress and pooed quite a bit. Initially, when I put him in the net, I was disappointed. They were still there. After I put him back in the DT, all disappeared. Guessed it worked both ways.

Hopefully I won’t be able to find any more. If not, will have to dose praziquantel. Going to monitor him a few days. Unfortunately, will be away for a short trip tomorrow.

I bought a cleaner shrimp too. Hope it help!

Thanks again!

Hi bros, any idea which LFS has Prazi? Went to a few and couldn’t find. Did a 2nd FW dip and the ich is gone. But I’m pretty sure it will be back. Time to medicate.  Thanks.

I got mine from ah Beng back when they were still in Pasir Ris. And yes can confirm, seaview sells it too. Prazigold by EIHO. Just got a new bottle last weekend. They’ve moved to 8 Chencharu Link
