  2. Arrrgh.. I brought an anemone yesterday and place it in a small tank to be transfered to my bigger tank.. problem is now its struck to the glass surface and refuse to let go? How can I pull it off the surface other than dousing it with hot water.. Can I drain all the water out ? thanks
  3. yah, they will die if freeze.. but .. more fresh ?!?!?
  4. Just a short question. the shops sells brine shrimps in a bag. And there are so many of them, I dont think my fish can finish eating in one go Can I freeze them and feed them slowly to the fish, or will they survive in the tank so that the fishes can eat them.. thanks
  5. I wont be around for about 4 days so no one to feed the fish.. just curious but how long can a fish survive without food?
  6. Hmm.. Drilling a hole ?? Won't that break the glass? I have power drill and stuff, but how do you do it ..
  7. Yo dudes, Finally the forum is up again. Just some updates. I just checked the conditions of the water yesterday. Amonnia, Nitrite = 0 ml Nitrate = 5 ml Ph = 8.0 So I got a damsel, and it survived.. for 2 days already.. I think my tank is finally ready. Btw, how fast will the bio balls turn in nitrate factories? And will rinsing them once a while do the trick? thanks.. : )
  8. Hmm.. Is the surface skimmer necessary? Or I am better of getting another tank in the long run? Just need advise.. what kind of tank is suitable? I saw a website featuring the one shown below, sure looks good..
  9. Here are attached pictures.. The water gets suck from the bottom (near the bioball).
  10. nitrite 0.5mg/l Ph 8.0 Salinity is ok ... The damsel looks ok at first. But after 5-6 hours, they are lying on the sandbed. Then they died, I got domino damsel, they did turn a bit white before dying.
  11. Hi Guys I have been cycling my tank for 1 month already, and when I buy my fishes (damsel) yesterday, they died in about 6 hours. I have checked the PH, nitrite and Salinity. Looks ok. My tank takes water from the bottom (Not those top flow kind).. Question: Did I buy the wrong kind of tank !!! thanks...
  12. Hi Guys, Appreciate if you can enlighten me.. My uncured liverocks are in my tank for about a month already. I notice that they have all turned colours, to green and black!.. Is there something I can do to rid these ( I suppose is algae? ) thanks..
  13. Hi guys, Dunno issit a common problem, but my pipes joining the pump keeps on loosening. I have tape it with double sided tape but it still comes out. Is it common to join them up with silicon ? or other methods.. thanks, ..
  14. Hi, thanks for the replies.. some more info. 1. The LR are not cured, so I let the bristle worms die and decompose in the water.. 2. LR about 15 Kg 3. I got bio balls, thats all 4. I use interpet test kit.. dunno if it is reliable. The shop I went to only sells that. 5. sand bed only about 2 inch thick.. no DSB
  15. Hi Guys, My tank is 3 feet, with LR, filters and a skimmer. I have been cycling my tank for 3 weeks already but when I measure the nitrite level, it is 5mg/l . How do I reduce it faster? Or should I just wait.. thanks,
  16. Hi guys , Need your advise again.. I notice all my Liverocks red patches are now covered with green algae, is it ok? Should I scrub it off? Also, I read that there is a term anerobic (i think), the oxygen in the water is not enough. What is the effect on the tank? Is there a case where there is too much oxygen in the tank and it will harm the fishes? thanks...
  17. Hi! Good morning. I notice that the protein skimmer produces a lot of air bubbles. After running it for a day or two, my whole tank is filled with bubbles, esp on the water surface and the liverocks. Are air bubbles ok? thanks!
  18. Thanks guys.. that was really fast responses! (P.S point noted about the nemo reference..) The damsel died about 3 hours after I placed them into the water. Hmm, I just brought some interpet test kit, the ph is about 8, but the nitrite level is extremely high .. I think I will just wait for a few more weeks before introducing fishes.
  19. Hello!.. I was swept by the Nemo craze : ) Please see my tank and see if the set up is ok. I set it up based on the info collected from the internet.. Its about 1 week old now. I did put in a couple of damsel two days ago, but they die nearly instantly .. Its a 3 feet tank with a protein skimmer and some filters.. Thanks dudes p.s : The water really stinks for the first few days..
