  1. Couple more random shots of the tank...
  2. Finally got my six yellow tangs Also did some minor rescaping...think i'm good with the scape as is now...heres a couple of shots i just took tonight.
  3. Sounds like an interesting setup...continue to post pics and don't forget to post all the detailed setop shots (ie. sump and plumbing etc...i'm a setup freak ) I'm anticipating that my tank is gonna be FOWLR initially too....well for one...my chiller still isn't hooked up but the tank temp is maintaining fine at around 28-29 and sometimes up to 30 if i keep the lights on for long periods of time. So far no issues with the chromis and rocks i guess Altho i'm starting to see some diatoms blooming but that is to be expected. I need to get myself some wave makers cos i think there isn't enough current in the tank.
  4. Yeah...i like the idea of a few groups of schooling fishes...my plan for now would be school of chromis, YT and in future Blue Eye Anthias What's the specs of ur tank? Share some pics of the setup! I believe smiley faces are on the panel to ur left when ur replying to threads..click on the ones u want and it should show up.
  5. Hi MAG, i'm unsure about the motor roaring sound ur refering to. The pump does give off some noise but it's not unbearable and i hardly notice it with the doors closed. It's definately not as silent as my Red Dragon. As for the return pipe returning alot of bubbles...i cant tell with my setup as the return goes into the first compartment of my sump along with my overflow pipes and it all goes through the filter floss then onto the next chamber. Hardly any microbubbles make it to the second chamber let alone back to the main tank. I myself am unsure how long it takes for the skimmer to fully kick in. But i assume it's almost there for me. Just i hardly have much of a bioload in this tank right now so can't quite test out its capabilities as yet. Maybe the 6 yellow tangs in intend to get this weekend will give the skimmer some work to do...haha
  6. Hey spawnn...welcome to SRC! U don't happen to be a fan of the comic would you?
  7. Putting the tunzes among the rocks is a possibliity but i'll have to scape the rockwork in such a way that it would be possible. Either that or get a Tunze Rock. Either way, it would be tricky as far as placement is concerned since my tank isn't overcrowded with rocks. But then u'll have the issue of the wire running all the way down ur tank and that's sorta difficult to conceal as well.
  8. Storm Tropper...i believe you should be the one that needs to chill. You obviously took the bathtub statement the wrong way. And i believe Xperiment has clarified that it's just a figure of speech. So don't get so worked up....
  9. Hey guys... needing your input! Am contemplating a Vortech pump as a means of additional circulation for the tank. I've come to terms that the 12m3 is probably not gonna cut it as far as total turnover for the tank is concerned...right now the current seems gentle at best. So one of the main reasons why i'm considering this over the Tunzes is due to the bulky nature of the Tunzes. So sad to say, aesthetics is a big issue for me and in my goals to keep the tank clutter free. I must admit the price is a lil on the high side plus the fact that i'll have to spend more to control it once the controller is out. However, my other concern is on the heat generated by the unit. I hear that it's just warm to the touch when not driven to the max. But seeing that i have black oyama sticker pasted along the entire side of my tank. Am wondering if this heat will either melt or warp the sticker. Plus, the side of the tank is also somewhat enclosed so it doesn't do too well in dissapating the heat. Any thoughts? Shoot! ps. Thanks Jervis for sharing your experience with this device over the pm.
  10. Apologies for the extremely dirty glass...have yet to get me a magnet cleaner and that's really killin the pictures Anyways...not fully happy with the scape yet so this might change in the near future. That's all for now...
  11. And now...a couple of first cut scaping shots..from the bedroom
  12. Close up shot of the bubble density and size. Does anyone know how long a Deltec takes to kick in. It's been running for a lil over a week i think..
  13. Skimmer shot...with pretty wet skimate...not much to skim out of my cycling tank i guess
  14. where did you get those red mushrooms from? The color is amazing...gotta find me some of those. Lemme know if you or anyone else has any leads
  15. Thanks for the input...the only reason i haven't considered a TS24 is due to the bulky nature of the unit...kinda unsightly IMO. Besides, i don't intend to go to SPS at the moment so i'm thinking i can do without the heavy wave makers. Currrently considering maybe 2 Nano 6045 and a wavebox in the near future. I'll gradually look into the wavemakers in the tank and see what is really needed as time goes along i guess. As for the topup. I have a tubby lying around somewhere...hopefully it's still working. if so, i'll hook it up soon. As for the kalkreactor, am gonna hold off on that right now too cos i don't see a dire need for it. It would ultimately boil down to the calcium consumption in my tank etc so i'll wait for the tank to stock up and mature a lil. Thanks for the input tho...anything else for me to consider?
