Tank update:
Been busy the last week to post updates. But here’s one: I came back home past midnight on Monday night (10 Jul 0100H) to see that my tank had stopped running.
Turns out that the adapters I had used to plug for power from had burnt through, and as all my devices were connected to one single power socket, there was no electrical supply to the tank.
I found out through one of the timer switches that the power supply had stopped since 2100H, which meant a blackout period of about 4H. This was luckily a fortunate incident as it happened at night when the weather was not so hot here, and that not too long a time lapsed before I noticed the impending catastrophe. After I restored power to the tank, the temp was 27.2°c and I was lucky that no major coral or fish died (less one Sps that STN-ed) the next day.
This was a wake up call for proper electrical management and contingencies against all the valuable livestock we have. Hope no reefers follow my same foolish footsteps.

Did a water parameter check yesterday and here are the findings:
MG- 1400
CA- 490
KH- 6.9
PO4- 0.00
NO3- 0.5
Guess I have to tune down the dosing of the calcium and magnesium. Also water is perhaps too Low nutrient these days which explains why my chaeto in the reactor is not growing very well...

Very nice coral, master class definitely.
Besides the standard big 3, what else are you dosing?
I don't see fishes in your tank? How you manage NO3?

Hi Mike thanks for the kind compliments! This reef is still a work in progress.
I dose the standard big 3 by dosing pump only. In addition to that, I also dose Red Sea Reef Energy and Polyplab products, however these are done only occasionally about once a week or fortnight and at half recommended dosage.
I have quite a few fishes actually. About 8-10? Maybe they were just hiding when pictures were taken...
I do water changes and have a chaeto reactor to help with nutrient export

I have 1 digital one. But it always gives me reading 1.021 or 1.020.
Hi Equiox are u also using the digital refractometer from Ice Cap?
I tried mine and it shows 1.022 altho my optical refractometer shows 1.025. I bought it for around 80 USD if I didn’t recall wrongly! It is quite a popular product and has to be pre-ordered online

Just received this order from Saltwater Aquarium. Can’t wait to try it out!
Any other users of this refractometer here? I read good reviews about it online and it gives a reading almost instantly!

Another one of my rainbow acans which was acquired recently. I really like this piece as it is a green rainbow and not the usual rainbows where red is the main base colour.

Yes, I count my lucky stars that also the power supply only stopped at 9pm... and not like 1pm when I was not at home. If the outage had lasted 12 hours in the afternoon and with my tank in the balcony... I would have come home to a tank filled with 400litres of Meiji milk (and suffered from depression for the next 30 days). 🤨
