  1. Thanks fisheatme for your advise. By the way, forgive me for my ignorance, how is a blue linkia look like so that will try to get one when is avaliable and can you propose how to acclimatise it.
  2. Hi fisheatme, Maybe I should elaborate further how I come to a conclusion (guessing only) that the culprit is the fish. Firstly, I bought the starfish in the afternoon and it was doing fine in the tank till the next morning before I went to work (est time inside the tank is about 12 hours and I had take a look at it before leaving). Secondly, after i put it inside the tank for about 15 minutes while it was climbing along the glass, I saw my fire crown went and bite it and it was drop to the sand. I though this is just a curiosity attempt by the fish and do not pay much attention to it. With the above, I assuming that it was the fish which may have attacked it.
  3. It grow about double the size but still unable to catch hold of him. Try to use a plastic tong but it move very fast by retreating back to the life rock. Any suggestion to catch hold of it?
  4. Hi Cityofangels, I did not have any shrimp in my tank and by the way how Harlequin Shrimp look like? Hi Fisheatme, I am very sure it must be bitten by something. I had just turn from a heathy one to this condition about 10 hours and I don't think the water can cause sure damage.
  5. It confirmed gone. I think the culprit is either the fire clown or neon damsel and I think for the time being better not to get anymore small moving inverterbrate like starfish or slug.
  6. Below is the photo took just after dinner, condition is quite bad, not moving much. Nevertheless, will wait till it is confirm have gone. Thanks for all your reply. File too big shall repost later.
  7. Just bought 1 red starfish from farmart yesterday. Today, after back from work, I discovered 2 of my starfish's arm was so badly bitten that it exposed the white 'bone' with fresh. I quickly removed it from the tank and put it into a netted basket floating in the main tank and I noticed that it is still moving. Any chance for it to recover? What should I do? Please advise.
  8. Read from some web page stating that this type of worm may cause irritating stink to our hand if we use our bare hand to catch it but leaving it in the tank may also hurt some slow moving fishes & inverterbrate. Please advise?
  9. Thanks, Reef_Lover Actually how big will it grow and will it remain the same (as the photo) when it grow bigger.
  10. Hey, any bro/sis Please help to id this creature and whether if this is harmful to the tank. Please advise!
  11. Hi Bros, I had just read up the article regarding the low ph. Yes, this is a very useful article, thanks madmac. I just wonder whether the low Ph was caused by the final product (which claim to be carbon dioxide and water) from AZ NO3 which I had just used for a week to lower the nitrate level? Just wonder should I use the PH buffer (still do not know which brand to use) or limewater (kalkwasser) before or after the complete cycle of the AZ NO3. Any advise?
  12. I used Hanna Test Pen. Which brand of buffer to use? Actually I want to find the root cause of this low PH. I tested my fresh water or mixed salt water, both have PH of more than 8.3. I tested the calcuim content and it show more than 420. So what cause this low PH and will it has any impact on the fish and inverterbrate?
  13. My tank ph had down to about 7.7 for about 1 over months and did not detected any abnormal behavior from the invertebrate or the fishes. Any advise on this issue?
  14. Sorry for my ignorance, what is HCO3 stay for?
  15. Just had partial water changes last week end (about 10%). Usually do it about fortnightly. Had add in stronger aeration air and hope this would bring up the PH.
  16. Hi Minsmarine, I'm using Milwauk** model PH 600, can I using solution 10 to calibrate. The maual stated that it support reading from 0.0~14.00. Hi Hotlemond, What should be the reading of distilled water? Can I just get a bottle of those found in any departemental store and test it or use those boiled water and what should be the reading? Please advise? If there is nothing wrong with the test pen, having such low PH will cause any problem to the tanks? Please advise?
  17. Test the water just now and very surprise to find that the PH is only 7.7. I made another test on my tap water and it give a reading of 8.3. Had just change the batteries and calibrate with PH solution 7.0. Just wonder if this pen is faulty? And my tanks occupants look okay lah.
