It's the green one (Synchiropus spendidus). It was eating enriched live adult brine shrimp. It was slowly weaned onto frozen brine shrimp from there.
Really tempted to get one green mandarin & try to train it!
But i have already got a spotted one in my tank.
Like others said might not be place for 2!
Thanks Fuel for your reply, at least now i know its possible to train them!

I have a thumb length mandarin that I will let off for $10. It has been trained to eat frozen brine shrimp but it is not getting enough to eat as my lionfishes are gluttons. Let me know if you are interested. Can feed for you to see.
Bro Fuel,
Sorry u jump in the thread, but is ur Mandarin Green or spotted!
How did u get it to feed frozen food!
Care to share your experience?

Just wondering if anyone use some sort of moonlight LED to light up the tank a little after all the lights are off and where to get it?
I did some DIY .. bought blue LED from siml im tower, soldered it & covered it with silicon sealant!
But then cus of salt the led leads do corrode in the long run!
Finally just put blue PL lights... easier solution..!

Mixed reactions about keeping 2 mandarins...
it hard to know the sex of the mandarins so cant even make a pair!
Reg poomoon question!
given a choice green mandarins will eat pods, but pod populations are limited in the tank & may not be able enough for the fish!
So if u train the mandarin in isolation in a small container u can make them eat frozen food..
But green mandarins are quite fussy, there is always a chance they might starve but still not eat the frozen food...

I intend to buy a green mandarin & train it to eat frozen food in a floating box inside the tank.
My question is:
I already have a spotted mandarin in the tank, will they fight if i keep them both in the same tank!
Anybody has any experience in keeping 2 mandarin in the same tank, do they fight?
2nd question is has anybody successfully trained a mandarin fish to eat frozen food?
Thanks in advance for you answers!

Yup ... agree with bro Sanjay. Bought a pair of spotted mandarins from PM (Ah Meng) and was feeding right away on both brine shrimp and mysis. It's been almost 2 weeks now and they are looking happy.
True most spotted mandarin would accept frozen food right away, sad that the green mandarin doesn't do the same!
I have read that Henry @ hong leong sells green mandarin that accepts his gorment food...
Maybe these green mandarins can be trained quickly to accept frozen food!

Looking to buy a Mandarin Goby which is already trained to eat frozen food or flakes/pellets. I really want one of these fish but my tank is only a few months old and I know I don't have an adequate copepod population. The guy who runs Golden Octopus has two huge Mandarins trained to eat frozen shrimp! Anyone with a trained fishee they are willing to part with?
Not sure if its a good idea to put inside a new tank with no pod population.
But as for my experience my spotted mandarin ready accepted frozen food from the 1st day onwards...
So its a good bet to buy a spotted mandarin, as compared to the green mandarin which is too fussy!

do u wan to rearrange ur rocks to a more bigger rock rather than clampin all the small rock together.then ur tang can hide in it
True Bigger rock looks better...
But i guess i bought all the small rocks...& since it was tight budget tanks.. small rock seemed cheaper at that time...
-
your blue tang looks abit too big for the tank.. haha...
it has grown since the last photos u posted in may...
Yeah that fish has kept me worrying.. eats like a pig...
But is extreme hyper splashes water around..
Saw it biting my super sun i bough few weeks ago!
Don't know what todo!

Nice vid! looking good, but it seems like its getting very crowded in there, you might want to slow down on adding more livestock to that tank.
Also if you intend to try keeping more corals you might seriously want to consider getting a 2nd hand chiller.
Hi Fuzzy,
You are right, a bit too crowded there, will be careful not to add anything more!!
Can't afford the electricity bill for chiller! Once your reefing goes beyond the budget, it starts becoming a very expensive hobby!
That's why i try to keep it as simple as possible!
Anyway satisfied with cooling fan, just have to keep up with the water topup!

My Tank is slowing turning from a FOLWR to a reef...lol
Uploaded a vid hope u guys like it!

ah!
i remember!
i got it from bro FuEl!
I even tried feeding live brine shrimp! but the mandarin wasn't interested in it! I even saw it biting once, & then spitting it out!
Marine Lifes Mandrin's do eat, but i don't wanna to feed henry's gourmet!
Only success i had is spotted mandrin. They arent so fussy as the green Mandrin & will eat frozen brine & Mysis shrimp!
But the aren't as beautiful as the green mandrin!

SOLD
Hi kikobananas,
How did u get ur mandrin to eat frozen food!
I bought mandrin fish twice & both times it refused to eat anything except pods...
I gave up now i have a spotted mandrin, which eats well!!
But i still love the green madrin, its so beautiful!!
Any tricks to get it to eat?

Feed ur suns after your lights are off and ur fishes gone to sleep.
My fishes have stomach like bottomless pits..
I tried feeding in the night but the cleaner shrimps & stuff are still awake, & sun coral takes long to eat the food..
Until that the cleaner shrimps.. would just pull out the food from the coral!
-
LCK confirm still have...i think it was 1 blue note only.
Sorry to be going a bit off topic but how do u guys feed your sun!!
I had a sun coral (not super sun)
Used to feed frozen brine or mysis shrimp..really hard work feeding them...
If i just feed, my fishes used to snatch away to food.. had to cut coke bottle & put it over to avoid fishes eating it...
Back bending work!!
Anybody care to share their experience?
