  1. Wait bro... i'm getting confuse now... 1st stage - Ammonia zero.. understand. 2nd stage - Nitrite zero.. understand Final stage - Nitrate low to zero.... confuse... Initial when i purchase the "process water" from the fish shop, i make a test before placing it inside the tank, it measure "zero" and after the 1 month of cycle, if nitrate also need to "zero", what is the purpose for the cycling process?? i'm confuse... Thanks.. will collect the skimmer from you lets arrange a date and time.. Will PM you. Cheers
  2. Thanks... credit should thanks to you intro the BIOHOME. Works well after change the BIOHOME. BTW, what is the recommend value for NITRATE? If do a full water change wouldn't it reset to "0"?? Okie.. will do a the washing of the sponges. BTW, you mention you had a skimmer to let go? is it still available? What's the size so i can do measure and check does it fit to my small compartment. Note on the over-stock of the fishes. Not to mention I have not add in the coral Will check on any outbreak of the ammonia everything I add in fish. If it does rise.. will stop. hee hee. As what you have mention, will reconsider the cute looking Mandarin fish. will do read more on this fellow. If I got one, will let you know.. see how long I can keep this fellow Also, will DIY some small White LED for the day and Blue LED on the cover.. Hope it works Will post some pix once intro Nemo in. Thanks.
  3. Hi Bro & Sis... Is been a while since the last update on my 8G tank Good news.. good good news. Have test the water this morning... Ammonia - 0 Nitrite - 0.25 Nitrate - 20  If I'm not wrong, the fully cycle reading should be Ammonia - 0 Nitrite - 0 Nitrate - between 10 - 20 (correct me if I'm wrong) Upon cycle, what's the next thing I need to do before adding LS? Must I change the water or just top up water will do. Filter clean & wash? anything need to be remove? Pls advice...I'm excited Previously, iskay reefer advice on the LS demanding.. and now I have come out with the shopping list "Generally, LS from least demanding to most (in my opinion). Least Fishes Inverts soft corals LPS SPS Most Don't even try SPS until your tank is stabilized for at least 6 months." Fishes - CLOWN FISH (2x), FIREFISH GOBY(1), GREEN MANDARIN(1), BICOLOR BLENNY(1), BLUE/GREEN CHROMIS(2) Inverts - CLEANER SHRIMP, RED BALI STARFISH .... will do it slowly... every week one LS Hope is not too much...hahahahaha BTW.. anemones is something I really like... which category does it fall under? As for coral... still hunting .... :whistle Again, I would like to say to the helpful bro & sis for the suggestion and advice. Thanks you.
  4. Thanks Fuzzy..... Ok.. will monitor and 2 weeks.. Will see you guys soon for the next topic.. Fish to keep if everything is ok..hahaha

  6. hahahaah... i dun think wife will let me keep any pet at home.. She want to be the only pet
  7. WHAT HAPPEN.... I just test the water.... Ammonia still read 8.0 no sign of dropping and Nitrite drop to 0 from 0.25. Water remain clear... pls help....
  8. hi iskay, Huh... i hope i can add LS soon but weekly... hmmmmm.. the magic word "RE-cycling" will freak me out and I will follow the weekly work and adding LS slowly... I read about the planning of LS.... is damn interesting  Again... I will need all bro & sis to help on this for the LS Let me work out a list of fishes, coral, SPS etc... hahahha hope is not too crowed for all in one Nano tank..
  9. Got it...will change 20% of water weekly after the cycle.. hope I can "tahan" this weekly job. BTW, how troublesome to mix the salt water? Once done, must let it settle for days? need to test? tap water or distilled water etc...? Any topics on this? BTW, how much is a pack for "OK" marine salt for mixture? because I'm using a small tank 30L, is it easier to purchase from farmway as I need 1 pack will do
  10. Can I do it after the process of now? Now i learn to be patient..... especially when everything is on the right track and water is clear.. I do read some article saying it need more times to convert nitrite to nitrate. Patient..... Thanks...
  11. Yupeee.. I'm on the way...(finger cross), once the nitrite reach peak, will the water turn cloudy again ?? BTW, you mention partial water change... only do it after the the nitrates drop to 0 (the end of cycling process). When is the good time to clean / wash the filter during the cycle process and after the process?
  12. ____________________ Update 04.03.09 7. Ammonia reading 8.0...the peak 8. Nitrite reading 0.25 9. Water become clear Hope this is a good sign
  13. Must I wash the sponge during the cycle period or after the cycle period? Just flush with tap will do is it?
  14. I feel relieve for the cloudy water as you mention is normal. As for the filter media, it come together with the tank. I dun know what is it Will try to catch the crab if i saw it. Will look for a skimmer soon, hopefully can something compact and fit well to the nenotank. Pauline did mention on the sand and I'm worry too and will monitor another few days before decide to ditch the sand. Yes.. if you walk towards the direction from the POSB towards the Thai minimark, is just behind the corner where there's a bicycle shop and car accessories. Hope you can find that shop, afterall they selling fresh water fish.
  15. Okie guys... Just a little update... 1. Tank wash and sand added. 2. Bought Saltwater from Fish shop and been cycling the water for 2 days 3. Add "easyneo" for good bacteria to grow which purchase last week. www.easylife.nl 4. Temp range from 25.5 to 26.8 for weekdays. Will update weekend temp on Monday. ___________________ Update 27.02.09 5. Add some live rock this afternoon and drop in a dead prawn (got it from the pasir ris FS) 6. Bought Ammonia kit, test the water, it read 0.25 ___________________ Update 02.03.09 (day 04) - Cycle period More dead worms found on seabed. Just clear it almost 90%. Why there are so many bubbles on the surface of the water? Is it normal? What should be done. Check the Ammonia, reading 4.0. Water is cloudy? Is it normal? Or what should I do?
  16. I really dun know it pack in clear plastic bag.. no brands, come in white but i chose black. We have name the auntie shop "OK / Can" shop. When question ask, she will say everything also can.. overall she nice Can get food or accessories from her as she sell only fresh water fish. I may get from her Dolphin Mini Chiller 788 which cost S$100.00. Is located at Ubi/Eunos center. Opposite the huge Car-mart. This morning went back to office to check on the tank.. and seem lots of changes : 1. Blister worms, tiny worms, hairy worms and mini star-fish was dead on the seabed. 2. Water turn slightly cloudy 3. Some small look-alike purple and green color "coral" drop to the sea bed from the rock. 4. Air bubble on the water surface 5. Ammonia slight increase from 0.25 to 0.50. 6. Smell is the same as yesterday. 7. Prawn missing for decompose. 8. Found 2 crab behind the rock Is it normal for the cycling process in the early stage for 1-6 ??
  17. Hello Topful_19, yes i did wash the sand till crystal clear I'm stressing out
  18. As mention earlier, the live rock was place inside and realize lots of mini 5-6 legged starfish and worms start clawing out and die on the sea bed. Not too sure the sand I'm using is a "live" sand? I purchase it from an aunty running a Fish shop near my office when I got the tank. Is black in color, real black and some look shinny or I can say look like coal. Is it ok for that? I can see the worms and starfish trying to dig into the sand but fail and die Hope someone can help
  19. WOW.... will read it and hope to get some knowledge from there. As mention, only after testing all this stuff then is safe to place fishes inside follow by coral? then a week later, change 20% of water, will re-do the test again starting from ammonia? Sorry.. too many question..
  20. Thanks topful_19 Yes, will get the live rock tomorrow really can't wait. Noted for the color and smell. Think Pauline and some guys have some rock to sell too with a good deal. If time really allow, will head to the west to get from them else no choice to stay around the east.
  21. Got it. will get live rock and add some fish food to start the rot Once I start adding live rock, how long I need to cycle the water again and when is the best time (after how many days) to test the parameter for the water? What should i test first and any things to look out for?
