  1. Hi all, well, cut the long story short. I bought an anemone about a month ago. It was doing very well for almost a month. i twas open real big, and the tips were all swollen! NICE! Anyway, recently, it stop opening up, the tentacles are no longer swollen, in fact skinny and sometimes grey in colour. It started moving around, and closed up completely like a peach at times. The colour of the anemone is still there. the last 2 days, there are white strings coming out of it. It is still sticky, and i think it is still feeding. I just dunno why it is behaving like that. I tried to remove it, but it is stuck tight on the rock. can someone shed any idea?
  2. Hi guys! i need urgent help to repair my chiller. something is wrong, and the anemone is already dying! kindly sms me a repair man for arctica, better if he also works on sunday! otherwise the official servicing agent for arctica will do as well. really appreciate it....
  3. Ha ha... ok.. this is become a great thread... coz i only top up approximately 1 litre every day, it is not worth buying the di system...
  4. i also hope so... I can't get home early enough to do double feeding a day.... my fishes are not quite reacting to the seaweed i clip in the tank... i am debating whether i should use any medicine... ha ha..
  5. Ha ha.. yah, i think so... the anemone seems a bit to small for all the clowns... if i can keep this alive for 6 months, i might get a carpet for the other 3 fish. now got more immediate problem. The Coral Beauty has ICH... in the day, can only see a few, but at night his whole body is covered with white spots... he is still active, and still eating... I hope nothing happens to him. He is a beauty!
  6. Ha ha.. no point guessing lah... Work will always be work... Anyway, when home early yesterday and saw this... Quite happy.... however i realised one thing... previously when the clowns are not hosting anything, they are a friendly bunch... now that 2 of them is hosting the anemone, i notice they become more aggressive.. they will chase anything that went near them!
  7. ha ha.. no lah.. i don't work for garmen... ok... maybe in comparison... i am slightly better than NSF lah... i work for an indonesian group... if any of you are thinking of working for indonesian, ONE WORD! RUN!
  8. ha ha... one day when i tell you who i working for.. and what i do... you will understand the frustration i face at work daily...
  9. Hi Guys, Just some piece of info. If you, like me, top up the tank water with distilled water, you might want to go to Cold Storage for a visit. They are selling 12 X 1.5 litre of distilled water for $5.85. The brand is first choice. i don't think i have seen it any cheaper so far... Cheers,
  10. ha ha.. yah.. we both enjoys the tank... she enjoy watching... and feeding... Today was suppose to be on leave with her. But late yesterday night my leave got cancelled... still feeling damn pissed!
  11. Hi Jacky! thanks for dropping by... Well, the rocks i have does have some coraline algae, but honestly, i don't mind if i lose them. Some of the rocks are covered by hairy stuff, which i presumed to be GHA. But as long as they are under control, I don't really mind some. After all, they are part of the nitrate control as well. My wife just SMS me to tell me that 1 clown fish seems to be wondering around the anemone. That is good news...
  12. I am sure they are quite good... just need to chase them away when i am feeding the anemone. On day 2, the anemone moved itself and tug under a cave. but yesterday night, it kinda still stuck its feet under the cave, but the rest of the body is stretch out, so feeding is much easier now... At this point of time, i have only been feeding mysis shrimps, a couple of pieces each day. It is opening up nicely... i hope it last! I didn't take any photos, because it is really a normal brown specimen. It was meant to be my "trial and error" One day i shall move to nicer specimen.... I need to check, what is the feeding regime for anemones typically?
  13. ha hahaha... funny thing is, i don't know what is the thing everyone has about coraline algae... i don't really mind if i don't have any, seriously... I like snails that eats poop! The crappy firedart fish poops large poops... long and thick.. sometimes bigger than mine on a bad day!
  14. its definitely a crab leh.. and something in there is making the clapping sound... i was told its the crab! urchin got problem... firstly, my tank doesn't have much algae (touchwood), coz i made it a point to control nitrate and prosphate from the start... secondly, my wife when she see urchin, she want to crack them open and make sushi!
  15. Hi AhSiang, I actually got some crab inside as well. You see, someone gave me the LR. It came with this crab which he says he paid $30 for. It makes clapping sound some times.. I dunno what kind of crab it is. I am refraining from getting crabs because, i heard it eat starfish... and i have a starfish in the tank already.. As for sea cucumber, it look like one piece of shit leh... ha ha.. are they really good?
  16. yah... but i already got 4 of them... i like my sandbed nice and clean... unfortunately those shrimps never spent a minute on the sand! hahahha Current cleaning crew 1) 4 Cleaner Shrimps 2) 1 Turbo Snail (real hardworking fellow) 3) 1 Brittle Star (haven't seen it since day 1) 4) 1 or 2 Bristle Worms... i thot of sand shifters, but from Reef Central, they seems to be hard to kept alive because there is never enough stuff for them to feed on...
  17. I saw a really nice Carpet at ML, But it was kinda pricy.. or at least for me... So i pick up a common BTA instead. Left in on the top part of the LR, just inches from the return pipe. That night he started moving to underneath the rock. He has been there for the last 40 hours. Tried feeding him with some mysis shrimp. But the cleaner shrimps kept trying to poach him of that..
  18. Thanks Guys, Was PT hunting over the weekend, but couldn't find any that i really like. Found this beauty instead. Can't really take a photo, as it doesn't really like its photo to be taken.. Anyway, found a long bristle worm and while taking that picture, managed to get him in the way
  19. Actually... 1262 is okay for a 3 feet... but i am facing this problem... When i use a single outlet from the return pump. the current is a bit too strong... But when i use a T split, the current is too weak. As my wave maker seems a little unpowered for the tank, i decided against using the T split. I try to leave with a bit of sandstorm in the tank. I hope the fishes can get use to it.
  20. Ha ha... thanks... so, i keep the new fish in a betta box, and place a mirror in the tank for the old fish? When do i know the new fish is ready?
  21. why give up? is it really that hard to keep? i read about how difficult it is to maintain one alive, but at the same time, the advanterous part of me wants to try! I wasn't even planning the tank to have any think other than LR and Fish in the beginning... ha ha let me contact Henry and check with him.
  22. Mirror and betta the new fish? or the old fish? that is the part i am confused....
  23. I only wish i have a tank as good (and big) as yours. yah.. i wasn't sure about the PT to be honest... but i read a few website, they seems to think it is okay. I reserve this place for a carpet... i really want to try a carpet at some point of time...
  24. yah... the light is hung quite high now. The hanging kit don't quite work for me. I need the old kit that comes with the G1 lights. If i can get that, the lights will be hung a good 5 inches lower. By then, both ends might have some dark spots. The MP10 is running 100% reef mood, and it is sounding like a 500cc motorbike. i'll looking to see if anyone is willing to swap it with me for a MP40 Gen 2 though...
