    Done It Myself

Hi Ian, Your DIY looks really professional. Do keep your powerpoint diagram coming so that we can just print it out and take it to the manufacturer I've got a few questions if u don't mind :- 1) Noticed the pipe from overflow to sump in your new design is different from your existing one. New one look like letter "h", would u mind to explain its purpose ? 2) Also u r using double C-siphon and double return to sump. That's to increase the turnover ? 3) The part of the OFB inside the tank and the part outside, are they 2 separate boxes ? 4) How do you attached the OFB to the tank, do u need holes in the tank ? 5) The part of the OFB inside the tank, is it adjustable acording to water level ? Sorry for so many questions as I've never done one before but I'm very interested. Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi spade, Thanks a lot for taking the trouble to show all those pics. But you should not have censored the last one I aga aga got the idea now. Will toy around when I get another PH. Thanks
  4. Hi wolfie, u might want to have a read at http://www.sgreefclub.com/forums/index.php...013563b0c2d94a7 to give u more ideas.
  5. Hi Spade, I wanna to c the PH arrangement too, if u don't mind The ###### really got a nice shake eh, good stuff. Thanks again
  6. Hi Spade, Thanks for your suggestion. Have considered the eden b4. But the frequent maintenance required to keep the rotation going puts me off. Anyway still keeping my options open. Keong Seong has no more stock of Maxi anyway.
  7. Good camera. Very nice pictures. Excellent photography skills. So when is the photography course ?
  8. Hi Spade, Convenient to post a pic ? A pic tells a thousand words thanks
  9. No. I've only tried TOM and AquaClear. Quite happy with AquaClear, though its output is rated a bit less than TOM, in actual fact its more powerful. But reluctant to get another AquaClear from the 2nd most expensive LFS That's why want to try MaxiJet.
  10. I guessed so. Maybe others could comment ? Basically, since I wanted to get a ph, might as well look for a better quality one and hopefully last longer... I'm juz after value for $$$ in long run.
  11. In your opinion, then won't 2 ph mount diagonally opposite each other, both pointing upwards towards center of tank give better random collision ? thanks
  12. normally people connect this powerhead to wavemaker as this powerhead can take the frequent power on/off quite well. So i reckon its a good quality powerhead. But I'm going to use it normally, ie no wavemaker. Or does anyone has other good quality PH to recommend ? thanks
  13. Hi Spade, This is the first time I come across this idea. It got me interested. But after reading twice, still could not figure out how it works. Its basically :- 1) pointing the right rear corner ph upwards towards center of tank. And 2) pointing the center rear ph downwards towards center of tank right ? Have u tried this b4 ? Thanks
  14. Juz to let u know Petmart is closed on Mondays
  15. Thanks Chanbi. Will give them a call.
  16. not sure man. Normally i juz side trip there window shopping without looking or asking about price before proceeding to petmart. Their stuff are mostly over-priced anyway.
  17. does that mean I'm stuck with rainbow
  18. Anyone know where I can buy maxijet powerhead other than rainbow and hong leong ? thanks
  19. Hi Steno, Wow! Many thanks for your detailed explanation. I was not aware of this "apecture lock" limitation at all. Thought as long as there is a manual override function, I could pretty much control everything like a SLR. Will be careful about this if I'm going for digi cam. Your Nikon 5700 seems like a good camera in the 5 meg market. Macro @ 3cm sounds good too. The only other digicam I've come across which is capable of a closer shot is the fuji 602 @ 1cm supermacro. I was thinking of getting the minolta 7i initially. Will add the nikon 5700 to my list for comparison. thanks again
  20. Me and my wife are drooling over the pic of your tank. Would be good to have a bigger one to save as wallpaper, cause that's as close as I will ever get Very inspiring !!! Ever thought of conducting a course on aqua-scaping ? Very nice AT, very nice.....
  21. That's what i thot. Use the biggest aperture available. But a friend who owns a G2 said its not possible. He explained it has something to do with the lens. Therefore only possible with digital SLR like those TTboy mentioned. Oops, out of topic
