  1. From my experience your clownfishes will soon be wrestling for dominance even after you have upgraded to the 130l. Clownfishes don't school well and the most dominant (female) will soon be ruling the tank with its mate (2nd most dominant). Adding the anemone will encourage "roosting" behavior among the 5.

Having so many clownfishes will deter you from adding any more fishes unless you have a super-sized skimmer or willing do more maintenance.

Adding anemone is alright but do note:

    1) Anemone are much more difficult to keep compared to fish only set-ups

    2) Not all anemone will be readily accepted by the clownfish as its host

    3) Anemone will move around stinging other denizens in order to find the best spot

    4) Anemone may move and get pureed by your wave-maker or pump causing tank-crash

    5) Anemone needs increased lighting

    6) Anemone have lower tolerance to water parameters (temperature, nitrite, ammonia, pH etc) compared to fishes

If you are willing to accept the above and is willing to set aside more time and money into your set-up then you may want to consider Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmea quadricolor) aka BTA. Although not the natural host for Ocellaris or Perculas, BTA is one of the few anemone requiring lesser efforts to upkeep.

    Hope that helps.

For my 130L tank, I have a protein skimmer (Super sized), a cannister filter, a UV sterilizer, a chiller and some wave makers. Is that sufficient?

  2. Ok due to me delaying and busy with other stuff......the tank is still with me...

i have decided to just give the tank away.

will be very busy s heres some commonly asked questions

tank is cleaned n ready for collection

    get your own movers

pipping ca be reused..if your tank movers are good. but normally better to just do it yourself again.

overall condition is good. im the 2nd owner.

glass thickness is thick enugh for marine !

    viewing can be arranged

    FREE 4x2x2 TANK !!

I take it. Do I qualify as first responder?

  3. I have a school of clown fish (5 of them) and 1 yellow tail. I am going to transfer them from 30L tank to 130L tank soon after cycling the 130L tank. I am thinking of getting Anemone, do I need to get one for each clown fish, or can several clown fish home with one? Will the Anemone eat my yellow tail?

  4. Hi all,

Appreciate your contribution and advises. Let me outline the background first.

I bought a marine tank on impulse a small 30L tank, my daughter wanted it. So from the start many fishes died. However, I got the whole thing stable after 5 months, with one fish surviving.

So I bought another tank, now it is a 130L tank (30 gallons). Now I am trying to cycle the 130L tank, which is a second hand tank that I have bought.

What I have done is to first ensure that the salt content is sufficient. Now, I have to make sure that the tank is sufficient low temperature to match my smaller tank.

What I have is a single Chiller, now I must chill both tanks. So my thought is to do so ... 130L tank, pump water (1300 L/hr flow rate) into filter canister (700 L/Hr flow rate), into UV Sterilizer, into Chiller (1/10 HP), into 30L tank. 30L tank pump (1200 L/hr flow rate) into big tank. My protein skimmers are running in both tanks. Appreciate if experienced people can advise.
