  1. Last Sat my fairy wrasse was missing. Though my tank has a hood, found it on the flr at the back if my tank. This time I checked the surrounding of my tank but found nothing. Nothing in my overflow n sump too! Prob will try the overflow pipe but doubt it's there since the water flow shld push it out! Angels are capable of jumping? Smaller fishes always disappear a day or 2 aft release into my tank. Those annoying crabs are prob the prime suspect. But angels are much bigger n healthy. Still possible to fall prey to the crabs? Juz wondering if something else is lurking in my tank, how do I find out? Hopefully my angel is not dead. Noticed that marine fishes do not float when it's dead. Apart frm removing the rocks, any other ways on finding out? Will strong flow in the tank surface it?
  2. Gd morn to all! Came back frm work yest and during feeding, noticed my rusty angel missing! Scanned through my tank but no sight of it. Other fishes in my tank incl.... - 2 Common clown - Shoal of 8 blue green chromis - 1 Yellow goby - 1 Pseudanthias. squamipinnis - 3 other fishes still in beta box It's unlikely that the above fishes ate up my Rusty Angel right? It's prob unlike but do Rusty Angels hide in the sand? Really puzzled!
  3. 1 or 2 do chase the rest once awhile but so far no serious aggressiveness. The rest will just swim away or avoid the aggressor. Compared to the chromis, my anthias is the big bully in my tank!
  4. If I'm not wrong, green chromis is one of the milder damsals. I have a shoal of 8 green chromis. So far they've been minding their own biz and not disturbing other fishes including my yellow goby. Hope this help!
  5. Thanks all for the advice! My mistake, think I misread some where n got the numbers mixed up. My itention is to start them on brine first followed by mysis and subsequently pellets. Is that right diet?
  6. Hi All, 2 wks ago got 2 healthy long nose butterflies. They're in QT and have been feeding on brine for a wk during the initial wk. On a daily basis I did a 25% WC and a 50% change last wkend. Strangely after the 50% WC, the fishes stopped eating. Has anyone encountered this prob before? Tried brine and mysis but it's still not working. Wht is the possible cause and any suggestion to get them feeding again? Thanks!
  7. I think tail spot blenny is a pretty peaceful and hardworking algae eater. Too bad mine MIAed in my tank!
  8. Hi All, Noticed my blue goby having some fungus problem, flame fairy wrasse and blk clown having frayed fins. Intend to use Melafix in QT to treat the fungus problem but can it be used for frayed fins as well? Or is it better to leave the fishes with frayed fins alone? Understand that AC shld be removed when dosing Melafix. Daily water change is prob necessary, however shld it be 100% or just 25%? Last but not least, is there any specific water parameters I need to have when using Melafix? Thanks in advance for the advice.
  9. For hair algae think u can try sea hare. For me astrea snails works quite well for diatoms.
  10. Sorry to hijack the thread. Currently I've a yellow wrasse. However with sand bed, it's nowhere to be seen 3/4 the time. Was wondering if it's really an effective cleaner for worms/substrate.
  11. Which means it's better to pre-mix the zeozym with seawater before pouring it in? Should it be poured into sump or main tank and how long shld the skimmer be offed? May not be using it now, however would like to know where else zeozym can be found apart frm Reef D as the pasir ris fish farms don't seem to carry it. Thanks!
  12. Ok got it thanks! Got some astrea snails today. Will monitor and see how it goes. For new tank syndrome how long does it take for the diatoms to die off?
  13. I suppose it's new tank syndrome then. Currently I'm using distiller water and diamond energy water for top up and water change. Since the rock where the diatoms grow is close to the return pump and wave maker, I reckon nitrate, flow and silica shldn't be the cause. Only thing untested is Phospate. Shld I then get Zeozym to eradicate the prob or leave it to die off on it's own?
  14. Yup it is! Completed 3wks of cycling and started adding LS approx 2 wks ago!
  15. Hi All! 新年快乐 n Gong Xi Fa Cai! These few days, noticed a strange phenomenon that's in line with CNY! Noted my LRs becoming brownish orange, some wht like rust. Small green sprouts also seem to be growing frm the LRs. Has anyone experienced this? Below are my water paramenter reading. Salinity: 1.25 Amonia:0 NO3: 0 Ca: 355 Mg: 1,080 Ideally Ca shld be btw 400-450 and Mg btw 1250-1350. Is the low Ca and Mg the cause of this phenomenon? Additionally noticed my yellow goby with injured mouth, not sure if it was attacked by the nuisance crab under the LR or fingus infection. Clown fish also has mouth injury which is non crab related. Sorry no pic as they're either swimming too fast or hiding under the rock. Is there any medication I can use? Can it be added directky to the tank?
  16. Ha ha ok thanks! Maybe I shall experiment that in the holding tank. With regards to training the fish on pellets, if the fish is really refusing pellets, how many days is the limit if it's totally not feeding?
  17. My original plan was to train the 3 new occupants on pellets before releasing them into the tank. Unfortunately, the goby and wrasse jail breaked frm the holding area! Ever since the wrasse has hidden itself in the sand bed. Started off with 1 cube + some pellets yest but there was totally no int in pellets! With the wrasse mia-ing and clown not feeding yet, reduced the amt to 1/3 today. Understand that garlic juice increase the appetite of the fish. How long shld the food be soaked before feeding? Can pellets be soaked too?
  18. Ok thanks bro! By the way where can I get sea weed? Dried ones?
  19. Hi All! After wks of cycling, finally have added some fish to my tank. Will be using mixture of frozen mysis, brine (though it has no nutritional value) and pellets for feezing. Would like to know wht's the ratio in terms of frozen cube to the following fish ratio: - 3 fishes - 5 fishes - 8 fishes - 10 fishes Does the amt of food fed depend on the spiecies also? In case required, my tank size is 3x2x2 and current LS: wrasse, goby and common clown, 1 each. Other spiecies i have in mind and intend add in the coming wks/mths: barlets, yellow tang and reef safe butterfly. Additionally if I want to train the fish to eat pellet, would it be better to start with mysis then don't feed followed by pellets or just start off with pellets? Apologize for the long list of qns? Thanks alot!
  20. Hi Bros, Need some advice on current situation of my tank. It's a new tank that was cycling for 2wks before I went overseas. Before I left, topped up with DI and water looked fine. Last reading for ammonia: 0.25 Was away for close to a wk and my family reported that too much water have evaporated and return pump was making noise as the water level was too low. They topped up with DI. When I came back, noticed lots of air bubbles on the under side of LR and along the under side of the corner of over flow. Noticed the return pump sucking in some air so topped up with more DI. Tested the water yest and Nitrate was 0 and Sg 1.024. Bubbles still on LR and side if the overflow. Read that new tank may have Nitrate bubble and bubbles do form if return pump suck in air. Does it matter? Is the anything I shld do to manually get rid of the bubbles? Thanks! I did notice the return pump
