Wah...
any diff between the iron based and aluminium based? really confused here liao...

Wow,
dat's quite a bit of response out of the sudden!! Thank you everyone... tink I kindda got more knowledge... Anyway, in certain ways, i think there may not be a right and wrong answer, at the end of the day, the nitrogen cycle would be completed, just that maybe certain rocks are "better" in some ways...
Really appreciate all the feedback.. Thanxs!!

hmmm...
is dat something the hermit crab does? attacking clams? i took the guy out and threw him in another part of the tank... hopefully he doesn't come back and attack my clam again....

Btw,
dunno if i see wrongly, but my hermit crab seems to be attacking my clam?!
Does it happen?

Like i said, i was pretty ignorant at first, so started putting in Ls from day 1...... but i used sand and coral chips dat were already cycled for 2 weeks or so... my clowns were there from day 1 and so far they are still alive... did lose 1 porcupine puffer though... and another boxfish died while being treated for ich.... tink i overdose the fella with copper... but so far only 1 casualty beside dat.. and i tink the puffer died when he squeezed into a hole with the rocks and got caught in a small space the whole day, causing it to be stressed out and died, coz my puffer was doing alright the day b4....

I understand wat u mean.... but i tink 2000+ posts is amazing by any means, not dat i'm trying to "por" anyone.... must say that whenever i post some query, u always try to give me some advice....

Terryansimon,
I just bought Phosguard today too... but i only put a little an a bag and left it inside my IOS... i scared overdose or something...
Another strange thing is dat, IMO, i tink i'm have lotsa of LS, but it seems that my NH3 level always very low and my skimmer dun skim those black "kopi" water, its always just brownish water... I tried adjusting it again and again oso no use... keep my fingers crossed that its alright...

Terryansimon,
alrite... really gotta thank you, u have answered quite a number of my queries in my other posts...

Terryansimon,
hey buddy, izit always the case dat when u complete your cycling, the no3 and po4 problem starts, i'm starting to get some reddish algae in my tank, is dat a sign of it? if my understanding is correct, no3 causes the po4 to rise and thus more algae rite? Pls correct me if im wrong...
Vincent Ho

Terryansimon,
okie buddy, I tink I get wat u mean...
Vincent Ho

Ah^siao,
NH3 very low, close to 0, tested liao... no2 about 0.3-0.4mg/L, better than the 0.5-0.8mg/L previously..
PH = 8.3
Temp = 25-26 degrees celsius
Salinity = 1.022-1.023
Wat do u tink?

Hmm...
didn't know the LR so impt, too late for my 2 feet tank now... coz dun wan to upset the water and sand too much, but when i upgrade to 3 feet or four feet I know I have better pick the more "colourful " rocks....
Thanxs everyone!!

Ah siao,
hoe do u know dat for sure? anyway I can confirm?

Terryansimon,
dat's exactly wat i'm doing, whenever I got probs, or need info, I do a search, but sometimes th search function not working very well.... den i post a question in the forum for advice...
I'm still pretty new to the hobby, but as far as i'm concern, i try to provide the best for my fish... I oredi blew about $1k in 1 month, for a 2 feet tank... to buy everything to try my best in providing a good home to my fishes and corals... although I must admit i'm overstocking...
Maybe its been unfair of me to have posted my opinion in this thread, but i have been reading quite a numbers of threads whereby people have been shot down or have had nasty things said sbout them... so i just wanna air my views...
Alvy, sorry if u think it was directed at you... i really mean no malice here... hope u accept my apologies...

Tanzy,
Apparantly, when i bought it, i was told that it is some kind of silk worm... but the name fan worm kindda describes how it looks... So i cant really tell...

Hi all,
I'm a new hobbyist and my tank is about 1 month old... due to my ignorance been putting in livestock in since day 1... so far lost 1 fish due to dat... lucky me... anyway, i used live sand and coralchips to cycle my tank....
I have been having a no2 problem for the past 2-3 weeks, but out of the sudden it dropped slightly today... been testing almost everyday so i can tell the difference in the colour of the water tested...
Besides the possibility that i now have colour-blindness, can anyone tell if it's a sign of better days to come? dat maybe my nitrogen cycle is improving?

No offense to anybody :
Knowing dat marine fish keeping is an expensive hobby, there are people around who just started for the love of the hobby, but due to financial constraints, they may have to keep a low budget, thus having to ask more questions to find a cheaper alternative...
But dat's exactly the purpose of setting up a forum like this, I believe AT would agree, for exchange of information and "good deals" so dat money would not be wasted... Alvy 's question may be boring to some, but being a new hobbyist I would understand as I work long hours and I dun have much time to read all the threads, maybe only 5-10%.... And being new to the hobby, I'm feeded with so much information dat I have to digest...
In Alvy's case, maybe he wants to get a cheaper hydrometer, to invest in another test kit dat would be beneficial to his fishes well-being....
Please dun shoot down every question that people may post around here, as boring or as redundant as they may be at times, there are people around who doesn't know much but would want to keep this hobby, they may invest more in areas like more expensive skimmers, but wat's wrong if they wanna buy a cheaper hydrometer?
Thank you for your interest in reading.

Thanxs Hippo,
so is it safe to say that the more LR in my tank the better? of course the rocks are of good quality hopefully...
Vincent Ho
-
Is it true that the hermit crabs would eat up the good algae on the LR?
Vincent Ho

Hi all...
how do I tell which live rock is better?
The more patched of pink/purple the better?
Thanxs!!
