I've just started randy part 1 recipe...I'm dosing 187ml of both ca and alk daily? Currently ca lvl still 380 and alk lvl now 10.5. Am I dosing too much?

Hi all, currently my tank ca lvls are 380ppm and current tank is about 185 gallons (a mixed reef tank). My desired calcium lvl is 450ppm? Can i know how to start the 2 part dosing? i've purchased the Kh powder and Calcium flakes from iwarna. My magnesium lvls are 1300++ ish. I've use BRS calculators and calculate that i need 179.8g of calcium crystals. How do i go about mixing?

I've got algae hair (not long but visible strands from my DT) on my left half side of the tank and the back of the tank? Could it be the position of my wavepump that is causing the hair algae? My nitrate and phospate lvls are zero. i've got 2 wave pumps on the right side and 1 wavepump on the left side...

Hi all,
I'm setting up a 5ft SPS tank. Is it normal for me to topup around 12 litres of water every week roughly about 1 and a half big pail? And also necessary to do water change for my tank? i just put in 1 acropora and it seems to be ok after 2 weeks.

thx for the help broThen it is quite common to have algae since it is only 1 mth old. Just reduce the lighting hrs and the algae should reduce. for hair aglae, sea hare is good, good to get a mix of cleaning crew to clear up the rest of the aglae.

just started a month only no corals..i need to get some cleaning crew rite? So far i've got 1 yellow tangYes too long, actnic blue 9 hrs will do, for mh 4-6hrs will do. how old is your tank? If starting then should be quite common to have algae.

I've got 4 x t5 actnic blue (on for 10am-10pm) and 2 x 250watt MH (10am-5pm) planning for sps on my 5 footer tank. Are my aquarium lights on for too long? Currently i've noticed some hairy algae on my LR.

Im using 1hp Hailea with a external thermostat (forgot brand name but made in italy)...chiller seldom kick in and always maintain at 25 degrees for my tank

thx for the adviceNeed to manually remove the white strands part. It's dying and releasing nutrients back to your tank.

Plant some cheato in your sump area...will keep nitrate lvl low.

But i thought a 3 inch sand bed at least in DT will not cause no3 to build up?

thx for the advice bro!!One is definitely insuffcient for an SPS dominated tank or even a mixed reef tank for that matter.
Strong, intermittent flow is a must for sps coral health and vitality.
I can't comment on the MP40 as I don't use it myself. You could try one tunze 6105 and 1 MP40 and observe if all your sps coral polyps are waving at least moderately.

thx bro, irwana recommend to get 1 would be enuff =_=, but i just purchased 6105 x 1 and if i intend to get mp40 then i shld get another 3 more??Three would be fine for a tank of your size provided it's not too heavily stocked and have less rocks.
4 would be preferable if you intend to have a dense forest of SPS corals and lots of rocks.
