  1. for ich, i let nature take its course. lol.

yeah, i noticed a lionfish too. AND 2 triggerfish...wow, mind boggling!! lol and i kinda agree with bfg's first post... i have no idea how your equip handled all the bioload...and the lionfish, all the tangs, and the triggers WILL outgrow the 2ft. No offence intended

  2. tanks dominated by stony corals need additives to increase the Ca,mg, kh level, this and that. I believe that it is good to add strontium. I actually doubt that u can keep your Ca, mg...etc level in check through frequent water changes in stony dominated tanks. BUt for softies and fowlr, it should be alright though.

Dosing as in what additives to add and how u add it...like via a dosing pump, gravity drip system....

  3. how is kh related to decomposing matter???????? or are you talking bout ph???

Your pricing is kinda...... A simple tunze 9002 or red sea prizm 200 liao, unless you're talking bout air stone skimmer which u can get for 5 bucks. And yeah, $250 if u want an iceprobe without a controller.

if u're not a fan of test kits then how u gonna measure your parameters???? using a moniter/controller?

As far as i know, test kits and moniters/controllers are the only way u can measure your parameters.

and try not to put it on a table....

for lighting, i support t5 for now. But in the future, that would probably change...leds are birghter and controllable but are more expensive and u dont need a fully controllable lighting. t5 has more bulb choice

  4. oh i just made a hole at the botton in those 1gal containers and add an airline tubing and a valve to control the flow, then just put the container somewhere above the tank and the water will just drip into the tank, its similar to the kent marine aquadose.

  5. Hi all, i've started this thread to discuss about how and what we dose for our tanks. Do your just dose two-parts, or each and every component? I think it would be helpful to share what kind of aquariums you have and what kind additives you dose for it and how u dose it, like do you use a dosing pump, a diy drip system?

Also, nowadays, there is an ever increasing range of additives. What do you feel about them? are they good, economical, reliable? Just share your views about the additives u like and dislike.

So to get the ball rolling....heres a description of my tank and my dosing stuff....

Type of aquarium: Mixed reef, mostly softies, a clam and a few lps.

    Size of aquarium:24gal

Additives used: Kent Marine liquid calcium reactor and calcium gluconate

    method of dosing: manual dosing

rate of consumption of calcium: 0.5g/day

So please share your dosing methods and your opinions on the different brands and types of additives.

    cheers
