  1. Hi Guys

I thought this would be useful, especially since a large number of us like to keep our tanks uncovered. We could all pool our experiences and list finicky fish that are prone to jumping. I will start with 2 of mine:-

    1. Fairy Wrasse

    2. Skunk Tilefish

P.S. both of the above didn't make it :-(

  2. Ive heard that DELTEC Salt Mix is pretty good and reasonably priced. I change the water in my 63 litre tank every 2 or 3 days - 3/4 bucket. Especially when I see a layer of oil and lotsa brown bubbles at the sides and at certain areas of the tank. IMO NSW IS A BIG NO NO NO NO NO NO

  3. Oh my goodness...... 4 feet !

Yeah Boy - BLOODY BARRY!!!! I'm going to make sure I blast my new live rock with jets of water to remove all of Barry's demonic friends before putting the stuff into my tank!

  4. Hi,

Nope - i quote, "Lava rock is terrible for saltwater aquariums. I am a reefer, and lava rock will cause hard metals to leach into the tank. The project is cool, but it will prevent you from keeping inverts and corals. It is also a very bad bacteria culturer. It is porous, but those holes quickly get clogged with ditritus and other stuff". For simple set ups all we need is activated carbon ships for media. Advanced systems you've got your bio pellets etc.

    All the best!

  5. I think your chiller may not be powerful enough to chill your tank, unless you are runing most of the tank externally. For such a tank size similar to mine, compressor chiller is the one to go thumbsup.gif

IMO if the central air conditioning is preset to 26 degrees through out the day the chiller wont have to kick in so often.
