a rough gauge on prices on items mentioned by joh
1) grade 1 sand = $8.50 for 10kg
2) live rock = ranges from $5 - $10 per kg
3) protein skimmer = counter current skimmer= $20 normal venturi kind = $40, prism = $140 (ard there i think)
4) filter = not so sure, i think theres a post on it.. do a search
5) hydrometer, thermometer = $10 enough for both
5) test kits = one test kit ard $15
5) clowns = ard $2 - $5

my tank has got a hood which fully covers the top
question is,
why is it there are lots of water droplets on the inside of the hood in the morning?
any way to prevent it? ( would opening the feeding slot help? )
thank you

sump is connected to main tank ....
but the partition where i wanna put the old sand temporarily is supposed to be used for the skimmer...
thats y i have to remove it once the new sand is seeded
-
one more thing...
i think the quickchat one is for free...
-
i dont know if its possible but ive been to sites where there's an intergrated chat box...
it would be great if those online in the forum could chat wiff one another...
i searched and found a website where u can add on chat applets to the website...
the website add is http://www.freewarejava.com/applets/chat.shtml
just a suggestion
-
just wondering...
why need a fan if u got a chiller?
gonna serve another purpose ?
-
oh... one more question, when can i remove the old sand from the sump?
1 month? less ?
-
just to recap...
seeding the new sand would take 1 month rite ?
i dont wanna mix the sand together cause the sand i have now is really big...
my plans are ...
put the old sand into the sump (sump smaller then main tank, so i guess the depth would be at ard 5 inch? is that too deep? )
dump the new washed sand to the main tank
live rocks next
arrange my pumps, powerheads etc
and let it run for 1 month ?
really scared the inhibitants would die esp the prawn
would they ?
thanx for the help guys
