  1. Dear Bros,

  2. "if glass crack it will straight away crack and not wait for 5 day later then crack" <= this not very true lor...it may be a hariline crack when shifting, then it worsen after you add rocks and sand into the tank. or maybe there are vibration from your place due to constructions that worsen the crack.

Dont reuse and save on the foam...thats the most important support for your whole tank and sump.

Marine tank is always much heavier than freshwater tank. so the stand may not be suitable for marine. the 2 thin metal support looks more like an addon and definitely will not support the weight of a reef tank. Mine easily double the width of those.

So should i get a new stand? Or can i just add more support to my tank. If not i am wasting over 1K++ just in five days if i need to change everything.

  3. I can't really tell from the photos, but is that a piece of styrofoam at the base of the tank? How thick is it? It is supposed to help compensate slight imbalances. If your stand is warped, then there is a possibility the tank cracked under pressure due to the imbalance.

Glass thickness, age of use, and method of transport are some factors that may contribute to the conditions of the tank.

Styrofoam is around 4 - 5cm thick, Glass thickness 12mm usage 1year. So does it due to the stand no good?

  4. Dear Bros,

Need your advice, I bought a 2nd hand tank setup. There is no leak untill 5 days later. The bottom of the tank in the center crack from 1 end to another end. The "expert" advice to change the tank stand because he found out that the support of the tank not so good as it sink abit. He say that the tank too heavy and support no good that cause the tank bottom to crack from the center. So he ask me to change the whole tank and stand because he say if glass crack it will straight away crack and not wait for 5 day later then crack. Me personnal myself think the stand no problem because it make of stainless steel and the workmanship of the stand is quite good from what i observer. I will attach the picture of the stand and the crack of the tank. I hope you all can give me some advice. Should i change the stand ?

  5. Like any other light it depend on what you are keeping.

And what wattage you are looking at.

75 watt,150 watt ,250 watt or 400 watt MH equivalent

I am looking at 200 watt LED light. So i am thinking is it enough for 4ft tank

  6. Hi,

Welcome to the forum, and i am glad that you are checking these out before setting up your tank in impulse . You should be able to find alot of your answer by doing a search in the forum or from our sponsors in the forum . A few good place to shop for dry goods equipment would be reef depot, madpetz , aquamarine ect..

For live stocks, you would not want to miss out LFS like irwanna, Golden octopus, marine life and even online purchase from M3morph to save you the trouble of traveling.. To speed up your tank cycling, you may use sea water instead of salt mix and dose bacteria or using rocks / filter media from established tank but water testing is still a must.

The dream of setting up a successful ocean world at home is not longer impossible with all the high tech equipment we have now , but this hobby require more research and understanding of the water parameter and filtration system which also make this hobby more fun . There are alot of possible combination of corals / fish or species tank that you can keep but last but not least patient is the key to the success in this hobby.thumbsup.gif

Thank you. Even though i do read up there still alot of question mark for me when come to equipment purchase. But i will work hard to ensure my tank goes well if not money will just went down to drain...
