FL is the normal type of fluorescent type like the ones in office. (with pins on both sides) and PL is the U-type with the pins on only one side. PL is better than FL for tanks. From your picture, I think the tiny anemones are majano. See if others agree. If yes, remove them. As for branch gonipora, it's the types that's like a branch with flowers polyps coming out.

New Trio is at Neo Tiew Crescent, off Lim Chu Kang. Must drive there.

Can check with MArinelife (Hong Leong). I bought a Teco from previous owner (Patrick) for less than $1500 (RA640) for my 4 ft. I remember he mentioned the small one is about $800. Not sure if the price now still same with new owner (Henry).

I think your lights are not strong enough. Are you using PL (U-tube) or FL? At least I think you need 10000K white lights x3 and 1 actinic 03 Blue. No need pink. Also, some of your corals need very intense light...like your jewel and brach gonipora.
2 cts.
Also, please destroy your majano anemone (the tiny ones) or they will destroy your other corals.

New Trio can bargain for $20. Look for "Bug" the old man. Fish is high quality. Marinelife (Hong Leong) also can get at $20. Henry doesn't give much discount.

Welcome Valleyman,
I'm sure you'll find more pleasure admiring the beauty of marine fish and coral than trying to "see" numbers on the.....LH!

Nowadays, Yellow Tangs (even small ones) are going for around $20. As for the shrimp you mentioned, I think you meant cleaner shrimp. They are around $8. Cleaner shrimps seems to be missing from the market at the moment, but there many yellow Tangs everywhere.

In terms of reliability, Teco is tops...used by many LFS. Scout around and the small Teco can be bought for around $800.

Need to see if I can find space. Can I chop first till I measure my room.

IMO, if it doesn't spread then its not worrying. If you see more coming out, better bring the plate out from the tank, regardless of what it is.

The 3 ft display tank at Marine Life (Hong Leong) is using a Prizm and mine too. Really much better than Orca or even Sander. I upgraded from Sander to Prizm and since then no regret.

Phang,
I remember you are a SPS fan. Just wondering how you put Mantis with SPS and other corals. Are Mantis Reef safe. How about your hand when you put in new corals?
-
Anyone here from LFS or farm would like to host the event with "Yu Sheng" thrown in? I would raise both hands.

Thanks Newdamsel and AT,
You put me as ease for the moment. Almost thought of restarting my whole system of 1.5 years.

Need some advise...Anyone can help?
I have had a 4X2X2 for over 1.5 years. It was converted from FW and rests on a standard metal stand. Recently, discover it's coat is peeling and powdery rust appearing at few spots. I'm worried if it will hold. Is there anyway to remedy this or should I change to a wooden cabinet. If so I will have to set up a whole new system cos I have no idea how I could move the present tank to a new cabinet. Advice please. Gong Xi!

Roughly how much he charge for 4X2X2 and 4X2.5X2.5? Thanks

I am thinking of DIYing a 2 X 150W Iwasaki 20K unit for my 4 footer. I am toying with the idea of using my present ocean free 4 feet hood for 2 FL tube and convert it to house the 2 MH unit. Is it feasible? I went to EYE lighting, saw the bulb and like it. Just thinking if housing the MH bulbs in the Ocean Free FL hood would be alright.

I just feel you need a fish there to make it come alive.

It's not strange to find bugs in that place, so he'll do fine.

AT,
I used to think it was "Buck" until I asked him and he said it should be "Bug" and I had to believe him since the fat man could be "Tiny"!

Sorry AT, the girl in TT's avatar cannot be your ex-friend. She is 18 this year, in NP and her surname is Yee (if I am not wrong about the photo). Sorry can't tell her name as I know her. Took me a long while to realised I know her since looking a the avatar.

NormanH,
IMO, the coral beauty can be a nuisance. It gets eye infection easily and quite a bully. If I need to choose between the two, I'll definitely keep the flame. My tank has only one angel, flame, and I think its the most stunning drawf angel. My Kole manage to survive the attack of my 1 year old yellow and is now happy but lazier in terms of clearly algae.
-
IMO, don't buy any damsel. Save the trouble of trying to take them out when you get more delicate fish. Damn difficult to catch them.
-
After a long "net chase", they went back to nature at Sungei Buloh, on my way to LCK farm. If I had my lion fish then, it would have been a different story.
Where to get cheaper chiller?

If you are keeping corals, don't buy anymore angels! They will "makan" all your polyps, buttons.... Only Flame can keep with corals (not 100%). Other angels will someday start biting on your corals. Stay away from angels, butterfly and other non-reefsafe fish. Ask Henry before buying...he's quite helpful.
