Anybody has tried keeping this fish?
1. Is this a difficult fish to keep?
2. Anybody tried feeding them with either frozen brine shrimp or dry food?
3. Wonder what are the minimum size of fish that can keep with a threadfin snapper? My FOWLR tank contains mostly large fishes which shouldn't be a problem but do have a few smaller damsel, clownfish & angle ie. 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the threadfin snapper I planned to purchase. Wonder whether they will become fish food for the snapper! Anybody attempted this combination successfully?

Thought this would be a interesting survey.....also something useful for newbies. Cheers!

Here is the map: http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel..._site_143058/5/
I normally go to:
1. Swift Singapore
2. S Formosa (there is 2 shops there selling Marine)
3. Hiap Koon Aqua (there is 2 shops there selling Marine)
4. Irawana (you have to walk further to reach this shop)
Have fun.

Try Pasir Ris farmway (Eastern part of the island, near the airport) if you have the time. There is a few shops (farm) there that sell marine fish/corals etc. However, these are farms so you will have to walk 5-10 min from one shop to another.

I have a plan to go to Singapore so i will use this chance to walk around the singapore marine shop.
Could anyone suggest the area where it easy to find and has many marine shop?
Thank you very much ^^

Help! My fishes are dying from itch. Started with Tangs, lost half of them already. Lost all my Angles, only the Crownfish survived so far.....
From the survey, Hypo seem to be quite popular and effective. However I am unfamiliar with the treatment, so would appreciate some advice (read some of the relevant threads already but still abit confused).
1. The procedure is meant to be taken @ the tank itself? Mine is a 5 feet fowler tank & it is quite impossible to isolate the fishes.
2. To lower the salinity - is it correct to add fresh water and siphon out salt water?
3. After I reach the targeted salinity ie. 12-14 ppt (1.009), do I still continue with water change?
4. Read about the life cycle of parasite, how do I know when it is safe?
5. Can the parasite reside on non-fish eg. shrimp, crabs, etc.
6. Are alot of the seniors practicing freshwater dip when they purchase new fishes? Does it work?

Can I ask to see the item @ Reef Depot?

Haven't done much reading on wavemaker and fluidized reactor, is there any recommendation? Anybody wrote something on this? Paste a link if you know one. Thanks.
Wavemaker - I was told that you need 20x tank capacity?
Return pump - told 10x capacity?
Fluidized reactor - what to look out for?
-
Notice there is alot of new reefers (including myself) and many repeated questions in the forum. Is it possible to have a section to store/link all the recommended readings/posting for newbies. By doing so, newbies are spared searching through the forum while the oldies will not have to repeat answers over and over again. Juz a suggestion.

Lighting- 6x80w or even 8x80w. You may want to use actinic to see the different coral color. 2 actinic, 1 Fiji Purple, 1 Superwhite and 2 ATI.
Skimmer-Deltec 851.
Chiller-Aircon compressor, Mitsubishi Starmex.
Salt- Up to you but heard TropicMarin ProReef is good.
Additives-TropicMarin stuff.
Others-
Return pump-Red Dragon 8m3.
Wavemaker-Tunze TS24 (2x6100 I think)
Water topup-Tunze Osmolator connect to a Kalkwasser reactor.
Calcium addition-Deltec Calcium reactor PF601 or bigger. You'll also need a CO2 tank and solenoid.
Kalkwasser reactor-Either the locally made ones or go with Deltec.
Fluidized reactor-You'll need 2, 1 for Phosphate absorbing media and the other is for carbon and a pump not exceeding 500lt/hr to push water through these 2 reactor connected in series.
Accessories-
Ph monitor, ph controller, timers and more.
Wooo.......Wooo...........$12k!!!, my turn to no sleep 24 hrs!
But thanks for the advice.............
Skimmer - think Deltec 851 is too big for me.....heard Deltec 701 is the smaller version that is equally effective + can fit into my cabinet.
Chiller - Mitsubishi Starmex - really? I quite 'suaigu' - never heard before. Will chk it out.
The others - piang......can slowly add or not? Which is the more essential?

After keeping a simple fowler tank for 2 years, I have finally decided to spend some time and $$$ investing in a reef tank. Hopefully, can get it right - with some help from the masters out there.......
Here is the plan (I haven't bought the equipments yet):
Lightening: T5 (6x80W API tube) - is this too little or too much? Seen some of you with juz 4 tubes and lower W. Worry having algae problem.
Skimmer: Deltec 701 (why does a few containers & pipes cost so much? )
Chiller: Teco2 or Resun CL0500 (I was told tat this is juz an air-con, so I am thinking of saving some $ here to pay for a better skimmer, so prob Resun)
Salt: Oceanic
Additives: Aqua-Z A & B & trace element & calcium
Hmm........what else? Any essentials that I miss out?

Wonder whether these creatures are reef-safe? Please advice. Thanks.

Currently, I don't have a chiller. I am looking for one for my 5x2.5x2 tank. What should I be looking for?
Thanks.
-
Is there a formula to calculate the size (HP) requirement for different size of tanks?
-
Can you provide the specs of your chiller?
-
How big is your tank by the way? Mine is a 5 ft, wonder suitable.
-
Thanks. Are you using 54W or 80W?
-
Impressive!
What kind of ATI light tube do you use?
How long you keep your lights on?
Help - problem with skimmer Deltec AP851

Hi,
My skimmer seem to be having some problem. It is no longer creating the swirl of currents/bubbles in the skimmer tank. Is it possible to repair this? Change certain parts, etc? Where can I get this repaired? Any idea how much this is going to cost?
Thanks.
