Thanks guys for the advice... did not add all the LR I wanted at beginning coz... budget budget lah. My tank is cycled already... so have to do the add one by one method!

To be honest, I'm not too sure either.. the LFS guy told me when I bought the tang... it feeds on brown algae. Anyway, the packets of seaweed (the $7 type) differentiates green and brown algae. SO thought there's a way to stimulate it in the tank.

I apologise for being BLUR... but which sponsor is that? It's not an online e-mart sort is it?

What should go into the tub for cycling the LRs... just a pump for water movement, right??? Lights?

Got a Naso tang... like all tangs they can graze all day long.. looks like my tank will soon run out of things for it to graze. I know this may sound stupid... is there anyway I can stimulate brown algae growth? Or is that something I should not want? Ha...

Know the price range? Are they priced according to colours... any idea?

How elaborate a setup does the QT tank has to be... overflow, sump and all?? You have any picture of yours? Can post for me to see... If not, no prob bro.

Whaa, if that's the case - then very inconvenient. That means better to cycle both display tank and QT tank together? just in case fish intro after cycle kenna disease

Heard from some that it's better to add one or two pieces at a time, Correct? Coz it introduces lots of nutrient if added in large quantity.

Are LRs cured in general? I've always assumed that those you get from LFS are cured since they don't smell bad. What are some tell tale signs to look out for if a LR has not been cured?

Due to my current setup, can't be too adventurous. So kinda sticking to the simple easy corals like mushrooms. Have some green ones at the moment. What other colours are available at LFS? How much do they cost? At least have a base price to gauge.

My tank has been cycling for about 36 days already... cycled with about 14 kg of LR. Did not have the budget for more at the beginning. Can I still add LR now? Will it mess up the cycling process? 14 kg of LR in a 3ft tank look really bare!

Is it necessary for a hospital or quarantine tanks to undergo the same cycling process? I've always wondered. If that's the case than when the fish sick... must wait until the hospital tank cycle issit? - puzzling..

Anyone know of any LFS in the West which sells trustworthy and ok priced LS? Recommend any? Seems like lots of folks go to Pasir Ris, but it’s awefully far for me.

Tank is in its 5th week of cycling. About a week or so, I've been seeing a whole bunch of this star-like thingy on the glass. Can anyone ID what are they? Should I remove them? If yes, how? Thanks guys!

I understand T5s are slightly smaller in diameter compared to T8. So maybe I will upgrade later. As for those that are the same size as T8. Would a PL light of the same length and wattage be better than my existing T8 Arkadia Marine White light 24" 18 Watt?

Just one T8.. coz there's only one tube holder at the moment. My tank comes with a cabinet plus hood. LFS guy said light was enough at the time of purchase. And guess what light it was that he gave? One of those dim pink lights! Should have participated in this forum earlier!! Man..

Oops..sorry forgot to list out my lights.. (actually it was intentional - ha) Everyone seems to have all these super lights with high watts like MH and T5. Mine is just a simple, humble T8 Marine White 18W. (Tank is 3ft long)

That's what I thought. Algae rocks are LRs with algae on it. The guy at the LFS says it's different. DUH! Anyone can recommend good place to get LRs? I need to get about 30 kg... so preferably within the $4-6 range would be GREAT!

I went to a shop recently and they charged $10/kg of LR. Subsequent visits they charged $7/kg. They say the new batch are not LRs but algae rocks. (???) What is the difference? They look quite similar, except ironically the algae rock looks more expensive as it had more ‘stuff’ growing on it – seaweed look-alike, mini sponges, asst. buttons, etc.
