  1. Love my new Yuma 3c40083e037ae14d067ced90abe45df3.jpg

Bro, it's a gorgeous Yuma. I love them but they usually shrink and disappear over time in my aquarium. They like high nutrients environment?

And I love the rich colours of your fishes and corals captured in your FTS. What's that coral on the left side? Is it a hammer? What lights are you using because I seemed to see a rainbow spectrum of lights all over your aquarium.

  2. Bro James, Thanks for the reply. You said tube worms is a good sign. Is it because the filter feeding action improves circulation around the rocks or what? I don't understand. So your suggestion is to leave them alone?
  3. I have a number of small tubeworms (grow to almost an inch long) that started growing in my aquariums. Initially they look cute to me so I left them alone.

At first, they appeared from crevices between the rocks, then gradually moved on to the sand bed and even started growing amongst or between corals such as zoas. They seemed to be overtaking my aquarium now and I believe they spread so fast due to my excessive feeding.

I am sure some of our bros out there faced this problem before and I would appreciate if someone can advise how I can remove or control them through introduction of some fishes or invertebrates that eat them.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. I tried once and all 4 died from starvation too. I am still harbouring dreams of keeping a tankful of a variety of seahorses and am still keen to try if there is a solution to the feeding problem. This makes me wonder how the commercial display aquariums worldwide e.g. Underwater World, keep them alive and breeding. They must know or have something we don't.

  5. Bro, How do you connect the main tank to the sump? Any photos to show it? Do you have any Green Star Polyps, Zoas, Clam and mushrooms? I think these are interesting and adds variety to the aquariums. As for fishes, I just love clown fishes. Thanks.

  6. For softies and lps that are not light demanding, this should be fine. The colour of the clams may not be vibrant enough though. But with the MH, it should be more than sufficient although it may seemed like an overkill. By the way, I'm curious why you use MH and LED together because they are often used independently of each other. All the best.

  7. Always wanted to fulfill my Rainbow Tank dream with Zoas. I realise I come closer to my dream as my collections for Zoas increases. As i always browse thru R2R and always thought it is impossible.

This is like typical R2R Zoas. Nice right?

Today, I finally have the courage to start up a thread to record the process of achieving my rainbow zoas garden.

Hope everybody support, comment and welcome any advice!

Yours Zoas garden is so awesome! It's like a kaleidoscope of rainbow coloured Zoas.

  8. Updated shot...been adding new fishes this past year but all can not make it due to being bullied by pioneers. adding coral and plant instead to deco.
Bro, Your last post was a year ago. :) Nice tank and layout of corals. Maybe it's time for you to strip everything apart and rescape before introducing back the fishes you want? That way, your pioneers will be as disoriented as the new ones and have to establish new territories to guard? By the way, your corals looked a bit washed out from past photos. What lights are you using? Good luck.
  9. Thank you reef garden for your kind words. Here's a pic of my newer hobby, started earlier this yr. Just managed to get the complete Simpsons set. 8agabaga.jpg Happy reefing one and all! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
I guess it's not hard to guess when you start something new, you do it with the same unyielding commitment, dedication and perseverance! Well done. Your employer must be very fortunate to have you as a staff.
  10. My 4 yrs of Reefing From a 3x2x2 tank, down to 2.5x1.5x1.5. Soft corals ---> LPS corals---->Fowlr---->Mix reef---->Sps dominant Plenty of ups and downs, but always a challenge. I enjoy this hobby alot. Went through refugium, deepsandbeds, barebottom, shallow sand, algae turf scrubbers, t5s, to halides, leds, reactors, mangroves, many types of macroalgae, plenty of addictives, itch phase, pest phase etc etc. Wonder how much I've spent on this hobby. hehe Itching to upgrade to a bigger tank......arghhh Happy vesak day one and all! attachicon.gifhttp://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=212746'>fISH TANK TIME LAPSE.jpg
This one pretty much sums it all. Yes, you may not be the first or the only one, but I must say your years of commitment, dedication and experimenting are commendable, inspirational and won a lot of my respect.
  11. I love the small sleek design of the CherryAqua Nano LED but there are a number of limitations, which are listed here: - it's possibly only good enough for small pico tanks less than a foot all around because coverage is limited if compared to say the Maxspect Razor Nano, - light output is not good enough for sps, - height of lightset is not adjustable, - lighting levels are not programmable, and - light set can be very hot.

  12. Haha bro James I also wished it can auto monitor and test my water. It's just a very useful app, still have to manual input after testing. Here some other features. Scariest one is expenses, i seriously shock when i started counting my expense. I always key in what I buy. This not even the full amount, those stuff I bought last time didn't key. This just 2.5ft tank over 5 months, I don't know how those big boys handle.9e3y9y7y.jpgje8u8e4e.jpgbesy4eju.jpg Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
I feel you bro. The constant monitoring and high expenses is making me worried. This is really a time consuming and expensive hobby. It's like a bottomless pit and I hope it all pays off in the end. It's not like property where we can sell everything off at an appreciating price.
  13. Im planning to start new nano tank. I have a few questions. Im on a pretty tight budget. Im looking around for a 2nd hand 1.5ft cube tank with cab and sump. I called irwana but they said they have none at the moment. If anyone sees any 2nd hand 1.5ft cube tanks, cld u pls tell me... :) 2nd The lighting-- Im looking for some nice leds to make the coral colors pop.. Ive been looking at the aquabeauty 70w but that turns out to be 200US+ 50Us which is over 300sdg. Im on a budget of around 250. Does anyone have any reccomendation on some lights... cheers next is the easy stuff- bm qq from DE Lightings and a ehiem return from any lfs. Pls feel free to give me your veiws and ideas.. Cheers
How is it going? Have you found what you wanted? What lights you need would depend on what you intend to keep. If it's just fishes, soft corals and some lps, a simple set of lights may be sufficient for some time before you decide to invest in better lights for higher light demanding corals and sps. Good luck.
  14. Depending on the size of your tank, waves or currents can be created with the use of waver makers, power heads or internal or external filters etc. So what is the size of your nano? What wave maker did you use?

  15. The T5 is typically used to bring out the colours of the corals. And no, the 2 feet tube ballast cannot support the 3 feet tubes. Otherwise everyone will try to do that to save money.

You can decide on using either 2 feet or 3 feet depending on the coverage you want and height that you are hanging the lights.

    All the best.

  16. I think it's possible. Used to keep them in a 2 ft cube in pairs. But for my nano I just want to have a pair of black ocellaris. The other 2 are planned for my bigger tank.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I see. I love both royal gramma and orchid dottyback. It's good to have breeding pairs. :)
