  1. All of you are right. 95% my Yellow is dyed. Progress on the 4th days - with flashlight
  2. Hi, Tendering for a project to upgrade an existing 6x2x2 ft LPS tank into a SPS & LPS tank. Current setup of the LPS tank: Size: 6x2x2 ft Filter: Sump & Wepo type Skimmer Lighting: MH probably 150W x 2 LS: clownfish, damsel, mushroom, LPS, etc Please advise what's the min upgrade requirement need if I want to convert it into a SPS & LPS tank with minimum maintenance (once a week).; i.e - Skimmer - lighting - CR - etc ... If possible please list brand & price infos. Budget around S$5K including all maintenance spares per year but exclude live stock. With LS it is around S$8k.
  3. I did indeed tendered for last year contract for the following :- Porcupine / puffer fish tank (4x2x2ft) Mudskipper/mangrove plants tank (6x2x2ft) Archer fish tank (4x2x2ft) Horseshoe crab tank (4x2x2ft) Coral reef tank (6x2x2ft) Flashlight fish tank (4x2x2ft) This time round they have 12 tanks instead of last year 6. As expected I don't get the tender. Some reasons being :- 1. as explained by Tineng is 'lack of homework' 2. by Acedophin 'open secret' 3. 'too high a bid' 4. the bidding company is not related to aquatic trade I had done several tenders and yes never yet got any success with any Government board. But I guessed I will still try as I think '1' & '3' can be improved this time round but a bit difficult for '2' & '4'. If I'm not wrong the final tender bid price will be published as well. PM me if those still interested to join bid or help in one way or an other.
  4. Look on the brighter side. Things don't always seem to be that difficult if we don't even try. Must give those 'LFS' some real competition. I will likely make a site visit this week to get more infos. Those interested can contact me.
  5. We set the schedule & supply all expandable spares for the contract period;i.e - filter media - water top up - live stock replenish, etc...
  6. Price infos is confidential. Just estimate the manpower cost and supplies required for the contract period. Then add in some buffer.
  7. Thanks for the concern. No problem. Should have guessed for that color & price. Will keep a close monitoring for any color change. The 'yellow' color just seem so real. It even flourescene under actinic. If it is really 'dye' those guys must have done a pretty good job. Anyone know how coral dying is done and if the dye residue is bad for the water. Only come across in Freshwater fish such as those multicolor parrot fish, glass fish, abino cory, etc.
  8. This is a tender under www.gebiz.gov.sg for the maintenance of 12 marine tanks for 1 year of different types ;i.e mudskippers, reef, fish, etc. Detail as such: Maintenance should include: 1. Twice a week service: - a) Check and replenish stock, i.e. corals and fishes as deemed necessary Cleaning of aquarium glass and filter c) Equipment check i.e. pumps and chiller d) Cleaning of filter wool and replacement when necessary e) Removal of salt build up f) Top up freshwater g) Monitor trace elements, pH buffers and vitamins h) Logging of check information at the Centre upon visit. 2. Replacement of activated carbon every 6 months (or earlier if required) 3. Cleaning of protein skimmer (where necessary) 4. Monthly water change * Please highlight any other additional services provided Think LFS will be bidding for it. Any guys interested to work on it with me.
  9. Guess this works 2 ways. We must be educated ourselves and not go for anything out of the 'normal' unless of course we 'know' it is not normal. If there is demand for 'exotic' stuff there will always be supply be it this or any LFS. No one is to be blame, only ourself.
  10. I'm begining to feel it is dyed because :- - in the same tub there are also Yellow plates - price is typical - no one seem to be interested - can't see any in the display tanks
  11. Sure, will checkout for Yellow skimmage .
  12. Just got a yellow Lobo from Iwarna this evening. Never seen this colour before. Is this Dye or true yellow colour ? Yellow taken with Flash
  13. I want to install an external pump in between my Atman 650l/hr canister pump & my CL650 chilller (rated for 1500i/hr). I intend to use a 1500l/hr rated external pump. Any recommendation ? Will this work ? What will be the l/hr going into the chiller ? Thanks.
  14. Anyone has had any experience using the Ehiem 2227/2229 Wet/Dry filter instead of 'sump' for their Marine tank (LPS & Fish) with positive result. I'm looking for one.
  15. Thanks for all the replies. Will be interested to look into the Ehiem 2227/2229 Wet/Dry Filter. The other important point is that this Filter 'OUT' will go into my CL650 chiller 'IN' and hence the pump o/p should preferably > 1500l/h. Will look around for a 'used' one here or maybe get a new one.
  16. My current setup as shown: Problems: Consistently high NO3 ... 40-50 ppm Uncontrol dark brown/green hair algae every few days if not cleaned Questions: 1. Any recommendation to replace my existing Atman External canister filter to a more powerful one > 1500l/hr (so I can optimse my flowrate to the Resun 650 chiller)and acting like a 'sump'. Not considering to add any 'sump' because of space constraint. 2. Any benefit to replace to T5 (2ft only) from my existing PL. Thanks.
  17. Just got the CL650 from a reefer here this morning to replace my CL280. Very quiet indeed. My CL650 used my old CL280 setup; ie. direct thru an Atman 650l/hr cannister pump set for 26C. Does it work ? Still monitoring but I would guess I need to put an internal pump in my tank rated >1500l/hr for optimum start-stop.
  18. Collect from you tonight after 10pm if it has not been taken. PM you.
  19. I have currently an old Resun 280CL running via an Atman cannister filter (650l/h). This take about 2hr to drop from 31C to 27C and stop for 10 min and run again. Will the CL650 work better ? Do I need another pump. It's for my 2.5ft tank.
  20. 1 mouth........... $40 2 mouths......... $60 >3 mouths......... $70
  21. Think so. So you must be the other guy.
