  1. I use brightwell reef biofuel in conjunction with microbacter7 to bring down my nitrates & phosphates.

    Hi Sir Admiraltian,

    Your suggestion work wonders.

Now 0 ppm Nitrate Thanks to Biofuel and Bacter7 and partial 10% WC.

Thanks again fellow reefers for the advices.

Water Parameters as of December 17, 2013

    Salinity: 1.025

    Ammonia: 0 ppm

    Nitrite: 0 ppm

    Nitrate: 0 ppm

    Ph: 8.3

    Alkalinity: 9 dKH

    Phospate: 0 ppm

    Calcium: 450 ppm

    Magnesium: 1300 ppm

  2. this species will go *sexual. not asexual. sexual reproduction means the release of spores/gametes etc that will cloud the water.

asexual is reproduction by spreading/budding/fragging etc.

also do note that in order to significantly reduce nitrates and phosphates, you will need alot... relative to water volume.

    Hi Sir Lemon Lemon,

For a 65 gallon tank, how much red bamboo should I put?

I bought 1 bunch at coral farm last Saturday for 6sgd.

  3. My 2 cents would be since ur on ur 6th day of cycle, just leave the tank be and don't test for anything until it's cycled and ready for corals :) the only variable u could test is ANN.

This way u could prolong ur test kit's life span. During this cycle, ur tank will naturally equilibrate itself. Dont be worried about other parameters. Only when ur Ammonia & Nitrite is 0, then best u do a WC then tweak other parameters such as Ca & Alk for corals and such.

    Hope this helps. And cheers!

Your advice is great and I will be able to save alot for the other test kits.

I will take this by heart and proceed other parameter testings after ANN are 0.

    Thank you very much!

  4. bro, is the pH and Alkalinity unusually high?

    Hi Bro,

The correct parameters based from the article I read are as follows:

    PH should be between 8.1 ~ 8.3

    Alkalinity between 7~11 dKH.

I am still on my 6th day cycling the tank and will keep monitoring water parameters.

    Based from this article: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-03/rhf/#9

"if the pH is above 8.5 and the alkalinity is not above 4 meq/L, then the aquarium is not fully equilibrated with carbon dioxide in the air."

But my alkalinity is above 4 meg/L, so i'm still reading more on this.

For alkalinity, I will start doing 5% water changes and continue to monitor.

Hope anyone can also provide inputs on this.

  5. Bro

Yr dKH seems to be on the high side ( generally keep it betw 7-9 wld be fine )

As for the amt of rocks , on retrospect, personally i reckoned u can in fact be able to stack up another level for both Twin Towers to facilitate future placement for those light loving corals such as Sps ( if u're going over to the Dark side ! )

    Yeah its very high..

Please advice how to lower it?

Will 5% - 10% water change on a daily basis help lower Alkalinity?

  6. I like your scape bro. Gives better water circulation and hence debris management. Good height too. So water changes won't affect any LS on them. Not congested and fairly spacious for growth. At most can add a Causeway linking Singapore and Malaysia?

A bro advised to have proper water circulation that's why I came up with this scape.

Thank you very much for the comments.
