hi guys i am a FW convert, was getting my equipment 2 to 3 months ago. welcoming the challenges ahead with SW wanna learn as much before my BTO comes in at 2018 hopefully a bigger tank then. wanted to start SW even before i started FW but reading online says thats its too difficult etc. i guess through experience is there best way to learn just newly set up my tank ytd after having trouble with the SG of the water but well need to move on and set up my tank cause everything was already ready. Tank Specs 60cm by 30cm (10cm IOS) by 36 (small tank i know LOL) Filtration Oceanfree Filterwool Boyu skimmer polyplab biosphere (HAVE NOT ADDED IN YET) ROWAPHOS (HAVE NOT ADDED IN YET) LIGHTS 2X par38 ( one full blue and one mix of white and blue) Caribsea Live rocks ( will be mixing with DEAD ROCKS hopefully if i can go to LCK to get some nice one) Caribsea Live sand 1200L/Hr Pump to chiller to Display Parameters on first day is SG = 1.025 (corallife deep sea six) PH = 7.8 Ammonia = 0ppm nitrite = 0.25ppm ( not sure where there is nitrite but no ammonia. shouldn't there be ammonia if there are some bacteria die off?) nitrate = 0ppm (all taken with API saltwater master test kit) Temp is set at 26degC to 27degC see the First photo First problem ON the First DAY ! 1) My tank water isnt clearing up after 24 hours if you see the second photo you can see small bubbles floating around everywhere in the tank. OFF my skimmer for 15 mins an voala its cleared. anyone using boyu skimmer can advise me on using it ? first time operating a skimmer so no EXP. an another problem is that the cup gets filled up with water so fast within 30 mins. 2) and any good filter wool to recommend? 3) should i use rowa carbon and put it in? last but not least JUST ADDED MY MARKET PRAWN IN MUHAHAAH

bro shaohao, i would have gotten one but sad thing is tight on cash now LOL!! bro limited, cup type ? bro xiggie, seems like a good suggestion, will do this when my tank cycled. i went ahead with the readings from the new hydrometer i got, the second one was given by a nice bro from carousel. which showed a different reading. i followed the reading given by my new hydrometer which gave 1.025 the other gave me a reading of 1.020

hi everyone, i managed to get most of the equipment to start a marine tank. seeing all my equipment stocked up i am only left with the main item LIVE ROCKS / DEAD ROCKS my hand itchy and christmas eve is half day so thought of setting up my tank during that day. can i start up my tank with just live sand and cycle it first. then put in the rocks about 1 week later ? and i am currently looking for plastic hose clamps or if anyone have tried cable tie to tighten the hose on the pump outlet in the water or at the inlet and outlet of the chiller ? any idea where i can get those plastic hose clamps ? hardware store dont have. FRESHNMARINE website also never sell

Hi bro yannaung thanks for the kind gesture!!!! I only can set up my tank st end dec or early jan dont mind can hold it for me first cause currently i dont even have salt water to keep the live rocks. LOL tank coming this sun, other items like salt all this might be getting next week

Bro dingding, yea i actually read i think in one of the threads about polyb biospheres but FNM dont seem to have it can pm.me the price and location where to get it ? I am actually thinking of saving up for a redsea prism hof skimmer but is tunze9004 a better choice ? So this is the plan, 1st compartment - filter wool, carbon, rowaphos, polyb biosphere, filter wool 2nd - skimmer 3rd- ehien compact 1000 Thabks for the advices bros

thanks inwear and solasido for the advice, yup guess i will be doing like what solasido said. most probably going to check out the LFS at jalan bukit merah for some Dead rocks then after cycled will get one LR then just that i went to GO and there LR selection was limited and there wasnt any Dead rocks. went to irwarna and there was only LR with no coraline algae on it haha

I have a chiller already hailea hs28a Just abit confused on what to put in the ios for filtration Was thinkibg of keeping it simple but i feel that overkilling it would be a better choice hahaha

Hi i have a 2ft ios tank. Just would like to ask some advice on how i should utilise the 3 compartment of my ios tank I have a boyu skimmer that i am going to use A water pump to pump into my chiller and then back to the ios And then a return pump to display i would need activated carbon and i am planning to put rowaphos for phosphate removal Any advice on how to utiliss the ios compartment ? Am not able to fins answers on google
