Hey Reefers,
I have a question here, I have read on oversea forum that they are replacing Calcium reactor media to coral chips. I have DIY my existing quarantine tank into a calcium reactor with CO2 and PH controller connected into the tank.
So I would like to know if anyone have any Pros and Cons or experience with coral chips.

How big is your tank and what is your Bioload? Try not to overfeed. How big is your cheato chamber? Send some pics. You can also try marine pure block if you have space.

Use Rowaphos to reduce phospate and grow cheato to reduce nitrate.

Hi Schwantz, currently, my sump have nyos skimmer, 2L siporax, chaeto, rowaphos and 2L of Aquaforest bio fil.
But my chaeto don't grow as fast as it use to. No idea why my chaeto stop grow. I on 23 hours light but the colour of the chaeto still in dark green colour.
Rowaphos seem like wear off pretty fast. Last week I add new rowaphos and the reading is 0.009ppm but yesterday i checked again the reading has rise to 0.129ppm
Planing to DIY algae scrubber in few weeks time.

Hey guys,
I am looking for the LED fixture upgrade and wonder anyone has any comment on the above 2 product. Currently, I had a 2.5ft by 2.5ft x 22-inch tank and will be upgrading to 4x2x2 in near future. Current tank is about to fill with SPS.
Orphek v4 will be my ideal product as I won't need to buy another light fixture when I brought over to my new tank. But, there is a lot user in Singapore that are using Radion and their comment is good related to Radion product. Both products cost 1k plus and with some good comment from oversea reefers, and I would like to hear from our local user about those 2 products. Vote and comment here to see what is the pro and con about the 2 product.

I had the same idea. Socks are great but if you neglect maintenance they are pretty nasty. Great for accidental pod culturing though. Hahahaha.
Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile appyup. debris too much in the sock will cause nutrient high. and the sock is not cheap also.

What I meant was that I left my filter sock in my sump without removing it for a month. There were a whole bunch of pods on/in it. Turns out they were multiplying in it cause I didn’t change it out for so long. Currently I’m trying to run my system without socks to see how it affects particulate matter in my tank cause every time I take my filter sock out I have OCD about all the pods I’ll be killing when I wash it out. They really breed like crazy in my filter sock
Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile appicic.. I planning to change my filter sock to a cabinet type and put filter wool in it..

I’ve had a similar problem.. I changed the location of my skimmer in my sump to the water discharge falls into my refugium and not the last chamber were the return pump is. That helped, but not perfect.. it improved when I threw in chaeto to my refugium... finally reducing the LPH from my pump did the trick.. I’ll have to compensate w power heads but that’s ok
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI actually thinking whether I install the skimmer in the right way or not.

I don’t have enough at the moment for you bro hahaha. If they have an area in your tank where they can safely multiply, they generally aren’t all that hard to grow. Give it a month. I went without removing my Filter sock from my system for a month a couple times, when I took it out there were huge amphipods in it. I have a Seahorse and a Mandarin in my system that I never have to feed cause they’ve been living off the pods in my system.
Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile apphaha it ok. So it will be good to remove the filter sock?
