Wow I've been wanting to get this effect in a portion of my sump where I do and overflow and grow pods. But I just keep getting algae and any marine plants in getting 'strangled' by these algae. I run an led light meant for plants. Any tips? Zero no3,2 27-28 degree reef tank.

Yep, using iSocket. It is more for power failure notification.
It uses a $5 M1 SIM card which lasts 6 months.
 

I was reading about isocket online. Doesn't say how it grabs the temperature. Its a pass thru wall socket. Is there a probe that goes into the water? And how did u buy it? Local disti?

True. Temperature rise in main tank can even help indicate overflow main pump problem. Something cost effective has to get into the market with all the iot hype.

One other trick is to make only the front of the tank viewable and oyama the sides. This way maintenance is just on one panel. And rocks can be leaned on the sides n still look neat.

[Newbie question: Chiller vs Compressor]

I think if u r looking at long run TCO with equipmemt cost added in , then the electrical efficiency rating is also impt.

I run the teco tk500 directing exaust air away thru a vent which the tk series were designed with. By ensuring warm air doesn't hit back at the coils the chiller is also more efficient.

The tk500 consumes less power supposedly but if it conks fast then its still costly.

So reliability (brand n trackrecord), a well ventilated area ( compressor can prob be placed somewhere windy) and right sizing the equipment according to the tank size all have to be balanced up I guess.

Btw , there's this article on coral that can withstand 30+ degree Celsius temp found at certain areas. They evolved with climate change. Scientists r trying to leverage and study to keep reefs in action.

Erm.... I dont what type of sea fan was it. I found it at changi beach during super moon. An it is still staying healthy in my tank. Only problem is, my blue tank and damsel like to chew it

Still find photosynthetic sea fans tuff to find.

[Polyp colony getting smaller. Suggestions?]

Hi all, my polyps seem to get smaller and not open over time

I think light, temp and water quality are ok.

Running zetlight 6600 (same as pacific reef main tank), 26-27 degree c, around 10 on nitrate.

Other corals including elegance,hammerhead, plates etc np and growing.

Any suggestions? Met a friendly who recommended a dip to eliminate possible parasites. Any other possibilities?
