  1. Thats wat I tot about the K rating. The bulb's for 150W, same as the control gear. Looked at the ballast for more info but not much available there. Will try cleaning the holder.
  2. PL light tube is Blue & White, 55 Watts Casing is dark bronze colour Collection at Tampines
  3. When I bought the bulb, there was a 20kk coral life bulb. I asked whats the diff and he said the coral life bulb is more blue & also require a more powerful ballast (or something, I cant remember). Dun know if thats the case. So what can I do now other than change the ballast? Confirm I cant use the Dymax bulb? Hope I can get it changed man!

  5. Hi I just bought a Dymax 20KK bulb over the weekend to replace the 10KK (Coral life) bulb in my Atman MH fixture. When I fixed it up, the bulb lights up, 5 to 10 mins later it will off itself. Then awhile later it will light again. Anyone know whats wrong or if the Dymax bulb cant fit? Everything's in order, tried fitting it other ways, checking the prints on the bulb etc but still no luck. Gonna call the shop i bought it from to change. Any help in the meantiime?
  6. I'm using a Weipro 2014 and thinking of changing to the Macro needlewheel. Anyone knows if its worth it to change or not much difference? And also which model to go for? The biggest? My tank's 4X1.5X2.
  7. Currently I'm using only 1X150 MH with 10000K bulb. I have place an acro very close to the surface directly under the light. It does not colour up but has very good growth and hairy polyp extension. Will it colour up if I change my bulb to say 14000K or 20000K?
  8. lightningstrike I have the impression that there wont be significant improvement with the needlewheel. Are the rest of the skimmers u suggested also hang on? Will have a look at them. I'm not too keen on having a sump as my current setup already look like some science experiment. Was thinking of the feasability of getting a new tank with built in refugium, probably will be a 3X2X2 IOS, back section 3X0.5X2 will be used as refugium, and house skimmer too. Then the only other external thing would be the chiller. So can consider getting a good skimmer now cos can migrate the skimmer to new tank. Now just need to justify to the mrs.
  9. scarab Yes now that u mentioned it. That could be a factor. So defrost in seive and run through tap water. Any other ways? I stopped soaking it in garlick as i tot that could be the problem. lightningstrike I did the upgrade from a weipro 2012 to 2014. Although it skims ok, but i think can be improved. Any recommmendations for a good hangon skimmer for 4 ft??? I dun have a sump.
  10. Still available. Collection place at tampines st 72. Alvin 93676767
  11. Thanks bubblegum & penyu! They guard the tank. But sometimes sleep ontop of the MH at night! RAV-65 I feed one cube of frozen shrimp (mysis/brine) per day for my bioload. Seems very little to me already. Then I dun dump the cube in but hold it in the water and they nibble it off my fingers so that excess wont float to sandbed and rocks. But still no luck though. Offed the lights yesterday but only reduced abit. But I noticed that the really good looking tanks normally dun use grade 0 or 1 sand but wat seems to me like very small coral chips. Dun know if thats better. Any takes on that?
  12. It depends on wat u keeping also. From what the LS under your signature, I think 6 to ten times ok. See your parameters, if ok then ok. If keeping more demanding corals, i've seen ppl go up to 35 times.
  13. Looking for a good home for this fella. From my wife's decommisioned tank. Very healthy. Hopefully got matured tank about 7 to 8 months old. Pic abit blur but this fella really excellent specimen. Would have kept it and give away my other maroon clown but cant catch.
  14. ]v[edia The sand bed has more zoos than in the pics but I want to cover the rocks with it also. Quite difficult to get them to stay on the rocks though. Any ideas other than a major rescape? hammy Hehehe... well, this pic was taken after I sifted out the top layer and replaced it with new sand. Currently, its brown again! In fact I leave the lights off and curtains drawn one day per week to help control this problem. spawns This tank was set up with budget constraints. As such, it looks very... bits & pieces if u know wat I mean. I have plans to get a 3Ft with all the proper lighting equipment etc so that it looks like it blends in with the furniture. And not like a science experiment! Will concentrate on corals details, grow from frags rather than just mass. So now thinking of how to do the "downgrade". Definitely will consider T5s, but they seem abit expensive though.
  15. Oops, sorry forgot to reduce the last pic.

  20. Surprisingly the flame angel was very well behaved, as was the sharpnose puffer. Unfortunately, the flame got sucked into a power head when I forgot to cover up the inlet. Looking for another beautiful specimen but dun know if the next one would be reef safe.
  21. & my 2 cats who eye the fishes.
