  1. The idea from Full Hedge is good.
An alternative is to use soft netting (those green or black type). Secure with rubber band around the wavemaker.
The holes are bigger & won't clog or reduce flow significantly.

Anemones like a rock with a small recess where they can stick their foot in. So either find a rock like that or construct one.

They sure are fussy.. Drama Queens haha. OK sure thanks for the advices!!

  2. If using vortech shld come with it.
if not can just buy a block of coarse foam and diy it. Can either cut out the foam according to the pump
or take a thin sheet n wrap around. Secure with rubber band.
Use coarse foam not those filter wool kind. Filter wool will get clogged fast and decrease the flow.
Ugly but just a temporary measure.
Thanks for the reply. I woke up this am and dint see my anemone.. Shit. But no choice gotta go work. Checked wave maker.. Didn't see any sign of the lil guy also. Hope he's alright

  3. icic.. but if you take 1 week to raise the copper to therapeutic levels (0.25 above) then dont you think the ich wil start to form cryst and multiply and the qt process will be much longer because it takes around 7-28 days for it to hatch and goes free swimming again.
The thing about copper is that.. When the ich hatch out from cyst and go free swimming.. It will die immediately as there's copper in the water before it can even attach itself to the fish. Even if it manage to attach to the fish.. It will fall out aft 3 days after eating its fill and when it fall out it will either die from the copper before it can encyst.. Even if it encyst and burst out again.. It will again be in contact with the coppered water again. So yup.. Copper is the way to go for qt.

  4. Hi guys, I have a recently bought clownfish (bought on the 12th of Jan)
It is eating well, doesn't rub itself on rocks (means no sign of ich), doesn't do anything weird EXCEPT that it hangs out at the front right top corner of my tank ALL the time, except when feeding and occasionally, moving to the front left top corner for a few seconds (where i have a thermometer to measure the temp).
It hangs out at the front right top corner as in it stays there most of the time, but it keeps swimming. It seems to be 'hyperactive' but only staying in that corner.
As I'm typing this, it's currently swimming up and down at the front left corner, going to the surface and quickly going to near the substrate at the bottom.
So my worry is, why is it not going to the other areas of the tank? (such as the substrate, the live rocks, etc)
If you guys need, i can provide a pic. but anyways, does anyone know why it might do this?
Hahaha.. Totallie same behaviour as my little clown fish. But he's a survival of copper treatment. So I m not too worried. Mayb just need to get used to the tank. Mines doing fine now.. Eating vicariously with other fishes and swimming all over the tank like a confident lil guy now.

  5. Yes my qt has been running for more than 1 month and fully cycled no issues on that. Just worried on the fishes making thru coppers. how long did you administer the copper treatement?
Ic tats great.. Usually I will use my copper test kit to slowly raise the level to the recommended 0.5.. Takes about 1 week to reach tat level usually. Den I just leave the fishes in for 2 weeks. Didn't change water jus top up water for evaporation.

  6. oh boy, how big was your naso. im going to do same for my tangs. Hopefully they will be ok. How long did you qt them with copper and what was your procedures?
did you put copper first day? or waited few days?
Do u alrdy have a running qt tank? If not I would prefer to wait at least 2 weeks for the qt tank to cycle before adding copper to the tank. As I would like to wait for my filter to seed more beneficial bacteria. As copper stuns beneficial bacteria growth which might be harmful to the fish as nitrites or ammonia might start rising. Best is try to test the parameters in the qt tank a few times a week. If the levels are pretty much in the desired range can start adding copper. My naso is about 4 inch.. Poor guy. And please add a air pump. Copper really stresses them so need better oxygen circulation to aid the process of survival.
