  1. Hi Bro,
    I got 2 Radion XR15 G4 Pro.
My next choice should be AI hydra 26 , 2 pcs
Kessil is a bit tricky. I will not go for it.

The Radions are good stuff. Checked out the price and I freaked out lol. Personally prefer 2 x 26 for better spread.

Strike off kessil. Now is 52 hydra lol or 2 x 26. Agent no stock for 26....faint lol

    Thanks bro.

Red Sea Reefer 250 is a 54 G rimless tank. Very close to wat I customise for a coming project.

But 250 has a sump volume of 11 G so total volume is 64G.

    Good size

For SPS Kessil A160 you need 2. One you can only arrange your SPS under the light

no further then 1 ft from the centre of the light.

If you going for AI 52 HD be prepare to hang your light higher.

I will go for Radion XR15 PRO G4

    Better spread and neatly

Hi bro, what’s ur light choice for ur 54 gallon. It’s about the same size. Price wise I’m priced out of the ecotechs.

    Narrowed down to AI Hydra 26 X 2 or 52 x 1

    Kessil 360 X 2

is 2 x 160 enough for less demanding sps at the higher edges of the rocks

    any advice? Thanks

The quality is actually not bad at all. It’s basically almost identical to a red sea except for its sump which takes up the whole bottom. I had to put my chiller outside the cabinet. But other than that it’s pretty good so far. if u dun mind spending more then go for the Red Sea.

Very nice piping. The rocks layout nice too. Any glue to recommend for gluing the rocks together? Thanks

The Radion is expensive stuff lol. 2 x A160 sufficient for less demanding SPS?

I'm leaning towards anything that comes with WiFi control. Lol

Some updates bro. Decided to bite the bullet. For now here’s my damage today.....

    Red Sea Reefer 250

Teco 500 chiller (2 months old)

    Bubble Magus Curve A5

    SICCE pumps

Kessil A160WE (until I have enough moolah for 360)

Painful day for my shallow pockets.....

    Hi Bros,

Still thinking about the lights, was told that if I intend to have SPS, I will need 2 X 360 at least, what are your thoughts on the AI 26 Hydra?

Aesthetics wise, Kessil wins hands down, and much easier to use, but i would really like the wifi control function, especially when Im away.   Preferably, I would prefer one light only, is one Hydra 52 enough for SPS? Not looking at the most demanding SPS though.

Another newbie question, for dosing of supplements, do i only account for the DT water volume? Logically I should include the sump's volume right?

Agree with Sherman, therefore I took the idea of the IM tank and got CRA to custom build it to my requirements... save some money by customizing... it’s also because I already have a cabinet.. if you are looking for an entire system, do consider IM... nice tanks and accessories

    Will take time.

    This hobby talk about patience.

Both custom and ready off the shelf has their own group of followers. Depending on your wants soon you will be looking at custom.

It help you to match into your envirnoment. You build according to your needs.(Maybe I should say your coral 's need)

So far for custom build I like CRA . They have good service and is reasonable pricing.

Others I never use before no comment.

Ready made I prefer Innovative Marine. They have better and wider choice of tank design and supporting accessories

Look around all the build thread and you will understand more

Thanks bro! Great advice. Helped a lot to narrow  my search. Sleepless nights of web browsing lol

  9. So far no inputs, any feedback on custom versus Brand names like Red Sea? I like the concept of full range of products and equipment to support the brand.

Any savings for going custom? Seen a few but not very impressed with the usual custom tanks. In fact the shops i went to commented that price wise, red sea offers good value for the same specs. Im new to this so all inputs are appreciated. If possible, can also drop some credible names of tank makers.....not the atas ones please.....thanks!

  10. Hi gurus, need some advice on the above. Currently on a Nano tank (60 x 30 x 30 after deducting space rear filtration ) for 3 weeks and I'm looking at changing to a bigger tank after intense research (a lot of great experience sharing from SGReefClub), and knowing the limits of my current tank. Lot of $ wasted on the first tank set-up......time to move on....

After discussing with my wife (she's still abit pissed about my first impulse tank purchase), I think I narrowed my tank size to max 3 feet. Currently looking at Red Sea Reefer 170/250 and Revoreef Infinity 180 (unfortunately, not much user feedback can be found, except youtube videos on China reefkeepers).

Things that can be salvaged from current tank :

    1. Nemo 36W LED

    2. Carib Sea Rocks

    Current Live Stock :

    1 x Clarkii Clown

    1 x Saddle Back Clown

    1 x Fire Shrimp

    1 x Cleaner Shrimp

    1 x GSP

    1 X Goniopora

    1 x Octopus Branch

I would very much prefer the size of 170, but seems like a tad small, prefer not to go the custom route. Not so particular about branding for equipment. Reliability, cost and functionality are important factors. Eventual goal will be a relatively easy to maintain reef tank with lots of colors (hopefully I am not being unrealistic.....LOL)

Appreciate all inputs! Thanks for reading!

  11. Thanks for the sharing. I just started and I’m amazed at the amount of effort you have put in. Seriously, if it was not documented, is wouldn’t know the condition before it was commissioned. Lots of respect for people who do restorations of all kinds (including bikes and cars). Camping here to learn more!

  12. Hi all, can’t seem to find much reviews on this “skimless” tank setup. If anyone here is using this setup, it would be great if you can give some inputs on the long term maintenance costs and the pros and cons of this system.

All inputs are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
