I see.. thanks:) Do you think I can get away with just 2 Hydra 26 HD? I'm keeping mostly LPS and softies with the exception of one Stylophora, and I think my SPS count will remain that way haha

For a start yes, place the lights higher but may be unsightly and glaring to ur eyes. U will also have lots of “blind spots” and the spread is just not there.  The good thing about hydra is the diffuser is inbuilt. Whereas for Radions, u need to purchase them.

  2. It’s been quite a few months since I update this thread. Quick summary : Rescape was done and there was a mini crash after I switch additives. Lost a few fishes to ick due to aggression by my yellow tang. Things are back to normal and I have sold the tang away. The yellow tang and clarkii clown survived though they were covered with ick and even had cloudy eyes. Miraculously, they survived! Bought a kole tang, thought they are more mild. I was wrong. It hit on the flame hawk the moment the flame hawk hit the tang. And this time the kole tang is Too fast to catch and the trap didn’t work.

Here are Some pics. The sps are growing pretty well and coloring up (finally). RBTA split into 2.

FTS will come later as the quaroche rock is white and Carib Sea rock is purple.... Tak match....LOL

  3. Ups for topic.

This is a pretty old thread. There wasn’t any response. Lol. After which I bought a Coral Box from fishstreet (online store in HK).

Calibrated and tested. Not bad at all for the price. The unit is also WiFi enabled and can be controlled from ur phone. Bought it as I was away for 2 weeks. In the end didn’t use as I use MTO (maid top up).

Didn’t sell as too many lowballers (as usual). Now left in store to rot.

For pictures. U can check out jeebusai 250 thread.

Bro. That’s why we choose to stick to selected lfs.
There are few ways lfs sell.
    1. Shipment arrive, quarantine few weeks, coral healthy and stable, sell expensive.
    2. Shipment arrive, quarantine few days, coral healthy and stable, sell market rate or above.
    3. Shipment arrive, can sell direct without quarantine. Cheaper than market rate but risk is on you.

That’s why some corals can sell for $100 in one lfs and $150-$300 in another.
If you want cheap, take the risk.

Another issue would be buyer anxious.
Example 3. Selling cheap but we should not buy yet. Wait for a few days and come back and check if it is stable. But you are worried someone else would buy it before you buy and you can’t reserve it cause if it dies, shop lose money by not selling it off when they have the chance so you take the plunge and purchase it. Risk is on you.

Basically, it is ALWAYS our problem/issue if we do not do our part when buying.
If example 1 & 2 the coral survive at the LFS for do Long and you bring it back, it dies, your tank issue.
If example 3, also your issue cause you don’t want to wait worried people buy before you or can’t wait and see if it will be stable at the LFS. emoji13.png

    1. Cheap
    2. Healthy
    3. Looks good.
    Choose only 2. emoji13.png
If you want all 3, be a loyal customer and you will slowly get discounts more than shop hoppers.

Sorry for the Long post. emoji23.pngemoji23.pngemoji23.png

Very well said. I had my share of painful experiences for both fishes and corals. There aren’t that many Cheap, Fresh and Big Nxxx in the market.
