The display tank is of 4 by 2 by 2 feet with 3 feet sump made by CR aquarium. A seperate tank at the right most corner is the top up tank holder. The tank cabinet is made of solid wood so it is very solid and heavy too. The glass thickness is 10mm with euro bracing.
There are live rocks and sand in the tank and sump. The taker will have to take them together with the tank. Please put down when can you come to take the tank @ Tiong Bahru area.
I reserve the rights to give to whoever deems fit. Here are some pictures.

Anyone can help to list down the steps and items for beginner? How to maintain calcium, mg, kh without going expensive equipment?
Maybe can provide any link or topic regard to this.
1) Get a good salt mix (corallife etc) and do routine 10 to 20% partial water change every bi-weekly or montly. Take care of water parameter without hassle...
2) Keep fish load as little as possible. Fish tend to disturb the coral and hence spell some trouble...
3) Some wavemaker for circulation... key point, LPS do not need strong wave...
If you can fulfill these simple steps, ur corals should be alright... Do not temper with additives for CA, MG, KH... very often the noobies tip the scale and cause disaster.... remember it is easy to push up the values and MUCH, MUCH harder to push down the value especially in ionic balance manner.... leave these to the salt mix manufacturer...

ya...tats wat im doing nw, bt the decrease is onli 0.1 deg nia for around 1-2 hrs, tats y im toying wif the idea of using a iceprobe instead...
u know the concept of how iceprobe work? half of the material is hot while the other is cold.... What do u think?

By the way, interesting, the algae is significantly lesser now with all the same light condition. See this picture compare with the previous one posted on 6mar09. I did not do any cleaning since that last picture and see the difference.
From the algae scrubber thread, I believe your concept is not correct....

Is the circled PVC pipe necessary for support? 'cos it will be difficult to hid that trunk unless it is hidden in the sandbed... However, I am no architect and view from the "beauty" point of view....
PS: be careful about the width of the bridge... may be difficult to hide in three way view tank.... If I were you, I will likely make it into a tall tower form and use liverock to hide the pillar... My reasoning is that it is difficult to stack a stable rock work after certain height.... somehow, the height get to sink after sometimes....

very very very risky is what i can say from the picture. i have try using something similar to this before. and your water is only passing thru from the top.even if it's entering at a low rate,for the water to flow all the water to the bottom of the DSB will take a long time and to have it so deep will take a great deal of time. or the water exchange will be very slow but it might get too slow in a long run.
and this can cause formation of toxic gas. i have tried something like this similar before in the past and the result is formation of toxic gas and my dsb becomes black at those portion.
if u really wanna use this method, make the output at the bottom. u can try. the theory is same as denitrator.
haha..the sugar method.nv try before. think it could be because u are promoting too much anaerobic bacteria growth could be becos that these anaerobic bacteria in ur liverocks or tank get too much carbo. and starts to multiple greatly. overpopulation of them causing a slide in the ecosystem.
and when they use up the carbo, they will start dying. and may caused a spike in no2 and ammonia.
just what i tot theoretically.

Well, I don't know whether it work or not but at least I know for sure it will not end up the way u say 'cos the bucket can be removed without disturbing the display tank. I do have intention to get it done some time later when I'm more free.... at the meantime, hope to hear more voices....
