  1. got....at $1 each..... :o

haha, no lah, you are more than welcome to my place for makan and chitchat....

maybe after you hit 390mv your tank will look like it has flying tangs  actually why didn't you keep any corals? maybe the ozone will help a bit in keeping your parameters in check. at least the redox value will die die stay at 390 or 400mv, since the enaly is powerful enough. i suppose enough flow and a power skimmer will keep your nitrates and doc down, even with all your pooping factories.....

i guess ozone might even help keep ich in check.

anyway, let me know when you can come and pick your stuff up. i will hold on to them for you.

  2. sad man, how come of all days you choose to go bintan when you can finally setup your ozonizer on sunday?

aiyah, don't worry, your tangs can wait for another day or two, after april, may, june and july, a couple more days is no problem for them.

  3. hohoho

the long wait is finally over!

the seller is going to send the milwaukee orp controllers to me this Sunday morning! July 10th!

the seller smsed me this morning, and said he expects the delivery to arrive on saturday night. he has offered to deliver the items to me on sunday morning.

help me spread the news to all the buyers ok? and i need to arrange pick up times with everyone.

my home is at blk 2 st george's rd. its near boon keng mrt. remember to bring your balance in cash guys. i will arrange a more definite delivery time with the seller, so that no one needs to come before the units arrive, and end up eating all my mochi ice cream..... :P

no lah, you are all welcome to visit my tiny home, and even witness the wonderous sight :yeah: of my amazing 1.5 cube tank  cycling with live rocks and no fish.

the bad news is that the seller did not order any extra units leh, so i won't be able to offer any units to anyone. sorry...

if you need to contact me urgently, remember my hp is 9487-4835.

  4. woah, haha, cheemgalulu.....vinegar vinegrette...

dettol shower foam will burn and sting a little leh.... :D but super clean thanks to the antispetic properties. :yeah: good idea also.

yeah, i was thinking of the removable kind of squirtsquirt. never seen the seperate bowl thing other than on tv. but i dunno leh, after doing number 2 you got to squish squish your way over before cleaning sounds a little uncomfortable.

oh, its a little different from ervine's. its more like a contraption that seats in the bowl itself, with a nozzle aimed appropriately.

i just realised, i hijacked vincents thread and turned it into a toilet debate.

    back to serious advise please.......

  5. heyyy, no dissing my squirtsquirt...... :P

hotel stuff are really quite nice right? the last big thing we did was grand hyatt. some of the stuff were jaw dropping. i think they just cleared marina mandarin, but im not sure.

my curtains are from there as well. just wash and alter. super cheap and very nice too.

i think we a little bit off topic liao.

  6. yeah, cupboards are really important. mine are almost all filled with junk....in just a few months. when i have kids, its going to be :pinch:

make sure you budget for furniture leh. they are big and costly. i got mostly secondhand stuff for my home, since i don't really mind. there's this place in kampong ampat, mcpherson area, that buys hotel and service apartment stuff. go and have a look if you are interested. i think you will be quite amazed at what they have. they used to be my main supplier when i was involved in this line.

lighting is another killer. beautiful lights like what you see in magazines are Expensive. with a capital E. like that chrome light with flowing glass?$250. futuristic flat glass/chrome dining lights?$350. installation?$100. discount?dun like that lah brudder, vely cheap oledy, all imported flom itary one you know, not like the udder cheap taiwan imitation...

oh, and also, its much better to get daylights with electronic ballast, rather than the ordinary flourescent lights. they are much brighter and the light is crisp white. good for reading or studying or sewing or cooking.

after everything is done up, even toilet paper is expensive for me. thats why i recommend the squirtsquirt.

another thing. at first i wanted to redo my kitchen. thats when i found out that hacking and laying tiles are seperate costs. sound stupid now, but i really thought they come together as a package price. so if yours is a resale, or one of those new homes with basic reno like flooring, budget that in as well.

  7. hey vincent,

i just bought a 3 rm flat a few months ago, and it was all done up. i only added some simple cabinates and sliding doors and something that's very very important, but easily overlooked.

its something that you won't regret either.

in your bathroom, buy the butt washing water squirting thing. its not expensive. and easy to install. just do your thing, you know, and squirt squirt, im done, hey what i eat for lunch

life's complicated enough without worrying about toilet paper running out at inopportune times.

plus, my cousins think its a water cooler so, you know, its entertaining as well.

just thought you might wanna consider that.....

  8. actually, after reading through the threads, i came to one conclusion.

i have too much time for my own good :heh:

to tell the truth, i don't think she's that bad. a little deluded maybe, but not deserving of all that suaning. lots of people like to blow bubbles after all.

i rate her threads 4 stars out of 5.

  9. ha ha ha...... <_< very furnie.....free orp controller.....

got reply yesterday! good news  we will received the stuff next week. or a few days more than that. the seller has offered to pm everyone on the buying list to update us individually, so i have given him our nicks.

when you receive the pm, remember to update him on the adaptor as well, since there is no need for me to 'stand in' for him now. i will inform him on the number of people who have already pmed me for the adaptor as well, just to make sure.

  10. hey guys,

thanks for all your patience. i think mine is one of the slowest bulk buys in the history of src. hehe....but prices are not bad lah.

bad news is that i did not order any extra ozone generators or orp controllers. but if anyone needs help ordering some more, let me know. i will try to help if i can.

no new updates today. let me pm the seller and ask again.

i think iori's ozone is beginning to rust in my cupboard already.....

  11. hi there,

im doing something like that for my tank as well. its a bb tank, and the bottom is an egg crate tied with little sections of wiring casings. i tried to take a picture of it, but its not very clear.

its working quite well. try to take note of the main direction of flow, and align the casings to it. helps blow detrius away for me. the problem i have is that i didn't attach enough casings, so now some parts of the base is sagging under the weight of the rocks. maybe it might help you if you were to add more support. i will have to dismantle and redo mine.

  12. actually, i have some pictures in the members tank subforum. tank is being cycled now. im not sure about the difference in distortion between ordinary glass and diamant. it looks about the same to me, that is, the steeper your viewing angle, the more distorted the image. i suppose its the difference in density between glass and water that causes refraction, but im not sure about it. during the day, i can see that diamant shows better colors than the other sides. the difference is not very great. about 2 shades more colorful. maybe things might look better after i installed my mh.

  13. hi there,

im actually using a 350 venturi for my 1.5 cube. it really very warm. during the night its about 34C, during the day about 35C. and my mh isn't even installed yet. with the lights on, i think temperature might reach 40C. scary

im still cycling the tank, so its no big deal for me right now. just to let you know what might happen to your tank also. maybe you might wanna seriously consider a small chiller. :)

  14. this is what it looks like this morning after i tied all the rocks to the crates. some parts of the crates are still visible, but i should be covering them up with corals within the next few months. the pump is just there to help circulation.

the main problem i have is how to attach a black or white piece of acrylic to the back. i can't possible silicone it to the glass. maybe i'll just stack some rocks against it.

  15. hi everyone,

thanks for all your comments. i really appreciate it. i am now looking for a wooden stand. i can't imagine moving everything a month from now, put in another stand and move everything back. :(

anyone knows if chinmo still has his stand to sell? i pmed him a few days ago but no reply yet leh.

anyway, here's what i did yesterday. after trying in vain to stack the rocks i have into a decent looking scape, i decided to use racks instead, and then cable tie the rocks to it.

so i went out to buy a light diffuser. its expensive. cost me $16.50 for a 4 X 2 ft piece. :pinch:

next i cut them out to size. i sawed off some ordinary plastic wire casings to prop up the base, and then dump them into the tank to see how it looks.

    tadaa!

  16. thanks gouldian! actually, im going to diy a false cabinet that covers boths sides, the lower front, and the top where the mh will be. that way, only the viewing panel can be seen. there will be a vent in a corner to allow heat from the chiller to escape.

believe me when i say my wife is particularly mindful of the aesthetics. on the same note, i saw a picture of you and your wife on another post. congrats man! when's the d day?
