Can a 150cm long Gymnomuraena zebra coexhist with a 50cm long Cephalopholis miniata? If so, what capacity tank would be required? Apart from prawns and crabs, is there another kind of food that can partially replace the Gymnomuraena zebra's diet? Crustaceans are expensive!

If you ship them by air, confirm require DGR cert. 75ft is long and if it caught fire, I think impossible to put out. Saw a rally race last year on tv where a rally car uses magnesium alloy for their rim. Due to an accident during the race, the rim caught fire. The whole car soon caught fire even though a fire truck was pouring water on the car. If I'm not wrong, you can't use water to put out a fire that is caused by magnesium.
Thanks. I know the danger is real. Discussing with the authorities.

Wah,75ft tats a lot of magnesium ribbon...
So wad u intend to do wif it??
As previously mentioned. Will elaborate when I get more kinds of chemicals. Contacted the authorities. Hope they will E-Mail me soon.

I know, but my chem lab has only a little. I need 75ft for pyrotechnic purposes and for chemistry experiments. I am not sure, but does the arms and explosives act come into play here?
-
Does anyone know if one can be prosecuted by any act or law in S'pore if one orders magnesium ribbons from the US to ship to S'pore? Someone enlighten!

If I dump everything in the tank and leave just the gravel and bioballs, will the amount of contaminants still be lethal? (In a previous post by bawater what was being referred to was the algae product, but not the aluminium sulphate.) Can all the contaminants be removed by activated carbon? HELP!!!
-
Will the activated carbon remove the toxic algae product and aluminium sulphate From all areas of the tank, including gravel?
-
erm....Means you will have to man-handle the fish to do it.
Nope, you can anaesthetize the fish with clove oil. Then insert a tube down the oesophagus and pump in the food.
The soapfish ate a tiny piece of squid on its own accord! Hoping for more improvement. Fish is slightly more active today.

Fishes eat egg yolk?!
Obviously not in nature, but it is a good source of protein, especially at this time. I have done this successfully with gymnothorax tiles, and it works!!!
-
Do you thing force feeding of egg yolk to the fish is a good idea? It is too weak to eat on its own.
-
Now that my soapfish is in a new tank, how should I go about cleaning up the tank? Carbon was suggested, but do you think I should just throw all the water away (after all it is contaminated). What about the gravel, bioballs, filter matting/pads etc?
-
How about GEO liquid? Will it help?
-
Should it be best if I transferred the fish to a new tank, to eliminate the supposed causes mentioned while the fish takes time to heal itself (if it will)? Also, I do not have a skimmer!!! The poor fish may be releasing toxins around the main tank at the moment, as it is rather cloudy all of a sudden. You are right about the name of the algae product, that is the exact product I have been using. If this helps, the bran of the obscure purifying powder is BADUN Magic Purifying Powder. Not a good product, but those who know it may be able to tell their experiences (This may be the cause of excess aluminium sulphate). Epsom salts was used a few monts earlier to cure other fishes that were in the tank of cloudy eye. (believe me, it helps) As a note, there was no infection present anytime except now that resembles what has happened. Pls enlighten further!

I do a 10% water change every 2 weeks.

My soapfish is the lone member of my 135 gallon aquarium. He has not eaten for more than 1.5 weeks, which is unusual. Also, when I am not looking, he will lie on his side and breathe feebly. Sometimes he swallows food then spits it out about 1/2 an hour later!
This may be due to the following reasons: 1) He was caught by cyanide.
2) There is contamination in the aquarium of excess aluminium sulphate, magnesium sulphate and/or 2-Chloro-4.5bis(ethylamino)-1,3,5-triazine.
3) Unknown cause or liver damage.
Water parameters: Salinity: 1.025
pH: 8.2
Temp: 25 degrees celcius
Nitrate and nitrite: negligible (Water is treated with water purifying powder and nitrifying bacteria.)
Someone please diagnose the problem and help me treat him ASAP!!!

Flashlight fishes are not included in the chart. Anyway, I feel that it will be dangerous to keep the fishes I mentioned earlier together.

i'd be suprised if u can find it in LFS...
i suppose for this kind of fishes, you'll have to approach those suppliers of seafood or anglers...
dun think any LFS owners in their right frame of mind will bring them in hoping to sell them off.
True.

I can't seem to obtain a specimen anywhere.

is the 2ft depth the minimum recommendation?
Not so sure of that. The lizardfish will not make much use of depth, being a generally inactive, bottom-dwelling fish.

Can a the following fishes be kept in a 135 gallon?
Photoblepharon steinitzi :10cm
Photoblepharon palpebratum : 10cm
Anomalops katoptron : 30cm
Sixline soapfish : 20cm
Gymnothorax tile: 60cm
I feel that the first 2 mentioned fishes will become dinner. Is that true? Planning this set up with or without the eel, depending on whether the eel survives.
-
2ft depth? it might be too low in my opinion for such bigger fishes.
What depth would be appropriate? 3 feet? Anyway, I do not think that depth is that important for the mentioned fishes, except the soapfish (more room for cruising), but the soapfish still does well in a tank with a depth of 2 feet. Eels and lizardfishes require length and breadth more than depth, and in my opinion, can be COMFORTABLY housed in the 5 by 3 by 2 foot tank.
-
those are big fishes...
They are not so big as to warrant such a tank. I was thinking along the line of 200+gallons! This is because 2 full grown gymnothorax tiles and 1 full grown soapfish can live in a 135 gallon. The harpadon nehereus addition will most likely just increase the width of the tank a bit, to around 3 feet and the length of the tank increased to around 5 feet. Depth can be 2 feet. Just thinking.

Does anyone know REALISTICALLY???

Would you think I should try it if I have a bigger tank? Of what size?
Which eel is more active?
in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)

Is a zebra moray in general much less active than most other commonly kept morays e.g gymnothorax tiles?
