Bro MAG, I'm not sure if it is recommended to put powerstrip at the hood to connect the lightings. IMHO, i recommend the cables to run somewhere the salt content will not get into the plug. As you know the evaporation and the hood, bracing of the tank always have collection of salt content, i'm just afraid that the power strip might not be able to last long enough as the contact points and cables inside are copper. Also you might want to ask the hinges are stainless steel. For the hydrolic arm, it will tend to rust and in time it need to get replace. That what i experience time to time. I'm getting my tank fix first then will also start posting the doing up process. Also asking my contractors to do up all the stainless steel hinges. Lets meet up sometime and discuss more... i've got my aquatronica and can't wait to get it fix in the new tank.

hi guys, I came across this lighting Solaris LED. system. Wonder if any reefers here had tried it before? Below are some of my thought of this product, cos i'm thinking of getting it for my tank (But pricing abit steep, that's why i say must long run then "WU HUA"). BTW i apologise if the comments that i wrote below sounds like a sales speech to you. Just trying to see if any reefers might think the same way as I am. If this equipment works exactly the wat manufacture describe, then i think it will be very cost effective in long run. If it really doesn't radiate that intense heat to the water like MH and even way below FL, PL or T5, then our chiller would not have to work so hard to cool down the tank (Less kick-in = Less Power comsumption = Savings for our pocket). Then if it can operate like a 400w MH of 20k but not taking in that much power then it's like operating a 250w of MH to cover the whole tank. For me large percentage of the power consumption comes from out lightings and chiller so if can reduce this down greatly then the monthly bills won't be that heavy on me (And can spend it on clams and fishes). The website actually had a link to international distributors and guess what, Reefdep0t actually carries it. Hmm... maybe can ask nelson or reefdepot staff to explain more. I'll personally make a trip down to see if i can get more info on this state-of-the-art equipment. Below is what i had copied from the website above. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Solaris is the first LED System designed to replace Metal Halide and Fluorescent lighting for the Aquarium Reef Tanks. It has been in development for over two years. It will change the way Aquarists light their tanks from now and into the future. The H4 series (400W 20k equivalent) is the exact same size with the same light spread as the original G series (250W 20k equivalent), but with 30% more light output and 30% more energy usage. The new H4 series produces PAR light output levels equal to a 400W MH 20k. It uses 40% less energy than the 400W MH 20k fixtures it replaces. The life of the LEDs is approximately 50,000 hours, so it almost eliminates metal halide and fluorescent bulb replacements. All heat is radiated up and away from the tank; therefore, it does not heat the water like Metal Halides or Fluorescents. This eliminates the need for Chillers. The room air conditioner needs to work ½ as much since the light fixture produces only ½ the heat of Metal Halides which saves even more energy over traditional lighting methods. As with the G series, there is a built in microprocessor that controls the H4 series Solaris. This not only eliminates timers, but it allows the unit to dim the actinic blue LEDs, white LEDs, Lunar actinic blue LEDs and Lunar White LEDs independently from 0-100%. This dimming capability opens many opportunities. The light can be adjusted from 6.5K to 22K, or anywhere in between, to set the ideal color temperature. Sunrise, Daylight, Cloud Cover, Sunset, and the lunar cycle, can all be set independently. Coral Growth has been outstanding with the new lights. If he says it's a planted tank, then should be without overflow as planted tank use mostly canister filter.
