    Mushroom Menance

    Guys, anyone know what can be attacking or causing this to the mushroom.

    I got both hairy and greem mushroom. Now both got a blank patch in there - it appear something was tearing it up or eating it. :angry:

    Below is my livestocks

    1) Yellow tang x 1

    2) Clown fishes x 3

    3) Green Chromis x 1

    4) Blue Tang x 1

    5) Cleaner Shrimp x 2

    6) Blue star fish x 1

    7) Sandshifter Star fish x 1

    8) Turbo snails

    Couldn't figure it. Didn't buy any predator critters....

    Now I afraid my ric is next on the hit list.... :cry:

    Got new corals:

    1) Star Polyp

    2) Frog Spawn (2 branch)

    3) Ric mushrooms x 5 mouth (Orange) : Cost me a bomb. :pinch:

    Lost my plate coral finally. Couldn't save it. Now my Jewel is also starting to dwindle, will not buy another one till I figure out how to keep one. :(

    For fish stocks:

    1) Blue tang (juvenile)

    2) Clown fish (juvenile) - adopt for a fren.

    Special Thanks: Gotta thanks my sandshifter star fish... damm good job on the sandbed. It is all white everyday now after he start joining my cleaning crew. :P

    Holding my parameters now..... next wk trying out Marc Weiss's Form and Reef Vital. Hope to get good results from both product. Got them hitchhike from a fren in US. Damm products are only 30% of the price here..... sigh. Anyway, got mix review from alot of pple. Heck... if u wanna know, try it out yourself. Will write a review for it.

    It has been a while since I update my tank performance. Did a water change 10% and I was out for business trip end of last mth during the good friday. Lost my Sally lightfoot crab, pom pom crab, emperor shrimp and red blood shrimp. :cry:

    Could be due to the water change. Send shock to my inverts.... but no bodies found :blink: Damm it, dunno why everytime travel always have something wrong happens....

    Went to get a fire goby - saw it for 30 secs b4 heading into the caves.... 1st and last time seeing it. It was chew up the next morning..... :angry: I sent out a seperate thread to identify the predator but seems hard to narrow down.

    Try trapping it in a bottle but nothing comes to the bait..... :pinch:

    I got one. Use for 1 mth on my nano tank then now sitting in my store. :P

    I also have the temp controller unit.

    Everything is in good condition except the fan grill which is rusted from salt spray contact. U can change this grill at most computer outlets in Sim lim square.

    hmm.... I hope so too. ;) But my sallylight foot crab has always been active, scraping the rocks here and there. Didn't see him for the last few days... he is a jolly big size crab... unless he is the predator.... still have to appear sometimes....

    But this fire goby 'appear' to be acclimating well. No sign of quick breathing and swimming. It just swim slowly into the rockworks and next day turn out into pieces... sigh.... :(

    So sad.... not much luck with fire gobies...

    I dun think it is a mantis shrimp.... no clicking sound....

    will try to bait it this wk... see If I can narrow the problem first...

    Guys, ran into a problem today. Just got myself a fire goby yesterday. It was doing great acclimating to the tank and swam peacefully into the rockworks. Today morning it end up shredded. :( Found it near a birstle worm hole.

    Can a bristle worm attack the goby??? :angry:

    Also, I came back from an oversea trip last wk and can no longer find my sally lightfoot crab and fire shrimp. :blink:

    my livestock consist of 1 yellow tang, 2 clown fish, 1 green chromis, 2 cleaner shrimp shrimp now. My yellow tang always swim in the rockwork; dun seen to be attack by anything.

    I am worry now that 'some predator' has attached the goby and also cause my shrimp / crab to be missing. Could be a hitch hiker .... hope it is not a mantis shrimp... :erm: but so far, I didn't see anything except the bristle worms.

    I intend to setup a trap to see if I can 'catch' it. Secondly, getting a six line wrasse may help provided it dun get eaten first.

    Any ideas or suggestion that can help in searching for the 'ripper'

    I was very tempted to get the RBTA for the clowns... but I decided against it coz it is in office. I afraid if the anemone get suck into the seio pump over the wkend and crash my tank. :unsure:

    If at home, I will definitely put one in there.... always felt I miss something if got no anemone with my clown fish.... ;)

    thanks guys.... I will be extra careful with my plate coral next time. But it lost more area this wk. :pinch: very sad.....

    Kokhui: Yah, it is still playing with the jewel... my nano tank too small, no matter where I shifted it, the clown fish will follow. <_< But now with the jewel sitting in the substrate... can really seen it opening even when the clown fish is cuddling it.

    Will continue to monitor.......

    Got some problem with the plate coral.... found it one day with part of it 'rottening' or tear. Dunno if I mishandle it during the shifting or got whack by the shrimp or crab. :erm:

    Decided to shift it to high ground where flow rate is lower. My previous spot appear to be too high flow rate and affects it from opening.

    Hope now it will recuperate and regenerate itself. I dose a little more iodine to see if this helps. :angel:

    here is a pic of the jewel with the clown during nite time... will closely monitor them now. Trying to keep the trace element and magnesium 'at the right level' after reviewing that the article that jewel appear to absort both quickly to ensure a 'healthy' growth.

    Thanks Kamiru, yours is very similar to mine. The jewel will close up in the nite and during the day time, the clowns will start playing with it.

    Can u share with me your wkly supplement and foods for the jewel?

    After consulting with all u guys, I decided to shift the jewel to the substrate and the flow rate at that are is higher. Interesting the jewel stays open much longer though not as big when I initially buy it. Now I perform 2 twice wkly target food for the jewel.

    that article was great. Very scientific report. But it seems to contradict a fair bit with wetwebmedia forum. Got me confuse what is the best method.

    Anyway, I will try to experiment some parameters if this does better to the flower pot. Hope it will strive and grow.... :D

    Goniopora stokesi

    Goniopora stokesi occurs mainly in turbid lagoons in shallow water on coral rubble or soft substrates. It also occurs on reefs and in deep water. With its habitat preferences one might expect it to be very hardy. Nevertheless, it is considered delicate by most aquarists. Aquariums for keeping this species should consider the most common habitat: a horizontal substrate, with moderately strong light, though somewhat diffused by the turbidity in the water. The water flow is influenced by tidal currents, so it is periodically strong but more often slight. As I hypothesize in this article, the husbandry of this species may require extra attention to the supplementation of iron and manganese. I have seen Goniopora stokesi feed on live brine shrimp and other plankton, but I believe it can be maintained without extra feeding.
