  1. Gentlemen! Dry decapsulated BBS cannot hatch for sure. Is only good for fish fries and not for Seahorse fries. Only decapsulated by bleaching, either refrigerated in saturated salt solution or refrigerated in dry condition. It can only survive 2 weeks maxi refrigerated.
  2. My was fed after 2nd week, and the current generate by the air bubbles were quite strong. It carry the fries all along never had any chance to float or remained in one place any time, unless unhealthly.
  3. If on fries, it would be too late. I ever came into reading about putting WC seahorses into a horsepital tank for about an hour with drops of Methyl Blue or formalin to rid off hydriods. Not sure if OK for fries if dosage reduced.
  4. Suggest you take a walk into the nano tank forum.
  5. Some book said: 500cc of fresh water bubble with 2 teaspoon of BBS for 1 to 2 hours. Add 160cc of common bleach until it turn orange brown with in 10 to 15 min. Sieve out BBS and wash with running water. Add anti-chorine if needed. Hatch them ready then.......
  6. Hydroids come from hatching of impure BBS eggs supply. That mean your BBS are not decapitated before hatching. BBS is also the best food for hydroid. Initially we do have this problem until we very carefully design a tiny window of light source attracting the BBS to swim through a 1'' tube. I am not very sure but it seem that enriching BBS with HUFA actually suffocate hydroids. We don't find anymore. Have not news any invertibrate that ingest hydroids.... Best thing is to suck them out ASAP. Once past 2 weeks, is fattening time............. and it must be done quick.
  7. Great news Chinmo, If you de-cap BBS, it should be OK for 2 to 3 weeks. If not, normal hatched BBS after 24th hours would start developing its digestive system. All its embryoic nutrient would be used up end of 48th hour. So enriching it another 24 hours with HUFA & Vitamins (CoKent) would suring speed up fries growth. Rate of growm is almost 1mm/week.
  8. Hi Decentkid, Got to wait 2 months. Hopefully my fries made it and strong enough. Will keep you posted.
  9. Sorry for Kay Po. In my Opinion, too much bio-load for a 2 feet tank. Just simple coral with 1 or 2 fishes the most still OK.... With the lighting, fans etc. top is almost cover. Fan would speed up the evaporation rate which mean you have to top up demin water. Strong lighting also increase temp and evaporation rate. Ultimately you would go for a chiller which is oversized for a 2 feet tank. Please consider. Don't regret later, simply go for 3 feet at least or better 4 feet.
  10. Hi Robotboy82, Is a different family type compare to my. Sorry... Have you try Ong from the seahorse forum. He is looking for a male seahorse.
  11. Also found lots of amphipods. Are you raising them in the sum and in green water. Sad to announce, all mine didn't made it. Tempted by greed and putting too many in one holding. The last time I only had 5 in 60litres of water. this time 50 to 100 in the same holding competing for the same amount of food. Best of luck to you chinmo........
  12. Ong and Nickel, will post you picture of their well being.....
  13. Hi Ong, All Yins and no Yang. Very neat setup. I will be on the look out for you. I got 2 couples but I can't exchange cause if male go away, darling may grief and die. What yours seahorses staple? Do you enrich it? What the deg C of water? Sorry for being so nosy. Like do know more about my frie's next home. Hi Nickel, Surely keep you posted. Provision must be made to prevent BBS being eaten by pumps...

  18. These are SW shrimps (Shrimp sold in the market), in larvae stage. Food from the sea such as plankton. Size from 1 to 2 cm. I would probably choose Macritchie Reservoir carpark as the collection point. Saying " me too" is not enough. Please PM your mobile to me. Once available, will sms you. Time either Sat evening or Sunday morning. My motive: Pamper the seahorses ocassionally. Monetary gain zero. Solely to help a retired fisherman to make ends meet. Cheer!
