  2. Hi guys,

Regarding keeping of sea horse, I got a few questions for the gurus here:

    1) SH can be kept in a community tank or have to be kept on it's own separate tank?

    2) Can SH be kept alone? If it has to be in larger quantities?

    3) What if a SH in a community tank doesn't eat the frozen brine scrimps? Any remedies?

    :thanks:

    1. Best keep alone in group of 2 to 4.

    2. Buy those already farm breeded and feeding on frozen Mysis. Confirm with dealer bebore buying else you are buying dead seahorses....as well from TCM.

  3. Sea fans don't really mind the horses and kind of getting use to each other. Reason for sea fans is to help absorb mysis juice and tube worms to filter out the tiny mysis particles when the horses puff. However, this mere food is not sufficient, so DT come into play.

2 to 3 cubes of mysis daily put a great burden to the sewage plant. Rowa should be used and change 1/3 bottle monthly. Charcoal 1/3 bottle montly.

Have fun and keeping a horses only tank may not really be a chore :whistle unless productive couple..... :(

  6. Hi CKS,

Have not experience such social problem at this young stage. As they grow older about 2 to 3 months and older, separation would cause death or self induce starvation. Never buy one horse only, at least a pair, better with 4.

I don't use any light at all. Just place your tank somewhere dim. Change 1/2 water weekend. More sponge filters better.

Those sticking to the surface would be "Goner" soon. Generate small but sufficient current by air bubbling - don't use air stone, should keep them off the surface.

    Any survival so far?

    Cheer!

  7. Hi CKS,

There are no mating seasons and every day is mating seasons once the female is filled with eggs and the male is empty.

Narrow down to the bigger size and just try raising from there, said about 10. Put them all in a matured 2 footer with 2 to 3 sponge filters operated by air. Build a small compartment about 6'' x 6'' to about the high of the tank to 1 side of the tank. Bottom should be through and seal off by a square sponge tigth fix. Air lift water into the square compartment to ensure good water exchange.

Put the 10 good fries into the compartment and feed sparsly for 1st week with the smallest BBS you can get 3 times /day.

Space restriction would ensure good BBS distribution and good hunting opportunity for the fries.

Cover up all 3 sides except the side furthest to the compartment. Don't need any lighting on tank top, just dim ambience would be perfect.

When the fries grow just a little, you got chance.....

Lastly if you really grew tired if it. We can exchange with all males to you. Guess you already have some feeling for them .....

    Cheer!

  8. Sea grass grows best in soiled substrate. It actually a plant with roots and behave just like aquatic fresh water plant. You are so lucky it float all the way there from Labrador beach. There you find lots of them but "No Plucking".

I be your 1st person on the waiting list. Is a banned item now.

  9. the one that sells some corals and fishes?

the quite tall short hair aunite ah?

    Hello,

Poor horse is very timid and lonely. You should atleast get 2. Horses don't like fast swimming tankmates. They would compete for food and horses are slow or reluctant in chasing food. Don't mix it with any fast moving fishes if you can. Is easier to train it in a horse tank alone.

I would take it if you are loooooosing interest but must be atleast feeding for past few days.

    Cheer!

  10. how long the seahorse will survive during the training period ? based on all the expert experience ?

    thanks !

If your horses enthusiastic in feeding they should last long but most of the time succumbed to diseases, lost of spouses due to separation, congestion in tank, stress due to wrong tank mates, poor water quality and high temp >27 C, etc...
