  1. If you are intending to go through the full 3 weeks of cycling, then no need to add.

If you intend to do WC this weeklend then add a fish, then better put.

was replying on the bus on the way to AM man.... :)

:) By the way, dropped by AM yesterday afternoon before my meeting. Next minute..a guy walked

in to the shop and started inspecting...damn! was AVA....hope nothing happens to AM..

    AM jellycan deposit = $10.

Sealife saltwater are salt mixed water. They are not giving you existing tank water.

The tap that they take the water from leads to a fresh salt water tank above.

**next time look up and you will see the reservoir tank.

So these are new and fresh saltwater, NOT existing tank water.

Yes bro. $10 deposit and return all the 3 cans the next day and got a refund...funny part was, when they return the money

felt like i got a free $30 and utilise it for something else...lucky force my hands into the pocket and left quick quick

    else chialat liaoo..

  2. ok...i din read your previous posts...haha...its part of cycling period and u will encounter them for next 2-3months.

AM charges a deposit of $15 for those jelly cans...and how the hell u managed to carry 3 jelly cans!..i carry one already peng san liao...next time u buy in packet form..its $4 for 8 litres...u want cheaper source, go iwarna..cheapest!...dun get from sealife, tho its $3 for 10litres..as they will give u their existing tank waters...not so "clean"...

    Thanks for the info.

AM charged me for $10 deposit. Was driving fortunately..one of the guys even helped me to put inside the boot...pheww.. I got charge $30 per jelly can.

Noted about iwarna. Will go there next time. Bro vurbul told me about iwarna...but when i drop by AM to buy other stuff, Janet mentioned that she has it too...didnt know the price quite alot of difference.

  3. Algae as in algae on your tank walls or rocks? As I see should be brown algae on your rocks?

Use carbon to remove DOCs and phosphate removers to reduce the phosphates in your tank.

Noted bro. 1 thing i'm missing is putting carbon in the tank? Should i put it?

  4. Normal bro. Part and parcel of new tank. U can tank put the rocks and scrub with toothbrush in a pail of saltwater, rinse clean then put back. Tuxedo urchin and blennies (bicolour/ tailspot) are good algae cleaners once yr tank is cycled. (do note tux urchin eats coraline algae too).

Nuisance algae last for about 2 - 3 months. Be prepared. U are using DI water right?

OK bro...i didnt had this problem in my last setup. So when i saw this :o nervous liao.

I'm not using DI water. I bought water from Janet. 3 jelly cans of those. Cost me a bomb..Told peter the whole story..keke..

  5. too much nutrients....usually cause by feeding and food source....change yr water 10%-20%, alternate days for next one week and reduce your feeding to once a day and dun feed those market prawns or fish...they tend to cause these brown algae...

Bro Ah Siang, i'm still cycling my tank. About 3 days ago, I put bio clean. Do feeding as no fish yet.

  6. Hi Guys, thank you for the advices and input  ...bro Jacky makes me excited liao..haha..

Am eager to get somes tests this weekend and see what happens...will definitely seek advices from gurus like you guys before i proceed.

Also kena pressure from my kids....

"Dad! when will we have fishes?" Daughter/son (questions raised every now and then)

"We need to wait for a while...10 Days perhaps" me

    "Why like that?" Daughter/son

"Thats the way it is" me

"You got no money to buy fish ah?" Daughter/son

"Can take from my piggy bank and buy" Daughter/son

  7. Relax relax :P It is exciting but most people have learnt to take it slow only after feeling the pain of something going wrong... Keep going!

    Yes bro..agree with you...must tahan..endure

    Plan as follows

    1. 1st Week (This Sunday) test water perimeters

    2. 2nd Week (test again)

    3. 3rd Week - Introduce 1st fish if all perimeters good, Else tahan...

Setting up and introducing the first few LS will be the most memorable one...so take things slowly..

  8. which bacteria did you dose bro?

if you dose bioclean, have live sand and LR from CF, I think you are quite good to go....

quite sure 1 - 2 fishe will be alright.

just do a test and make sure there is no ammonia presence.

Hi Bro, i dose with bio clean...err..you mean i can put 1 fish already?

coz my hands shivering liao.. :eyebrow:

coz wait for 1 month can faint man

  9. Bro that Dymax you use for ventilation fan for your cabinet cannot make it lah bro. Go Sim Lim and get those 3 inch ventilation fan. But I think its best you keep your chiller outside. Where are you placing you ballast?

I like your rocks. Any spare?

sorry bro...no live rocks to spare...

  10. Hi bro. I use the dymax ok leh so far. What I did was to hang it at the outlet hole at the back of the cupboard. Apparently the heat of the chiller is at its back. The fan that I placed literally sucks out the heat. Will be monitoring on my next off day. I reckon I might need another fan to push/oscillate the hot air out.

  11. Thanks for the advice. Am now reading reviews of skimmer. Understand Red Sea Prizm skimmer is also compatible for our nano tank..but read the review...for all to share

Red Sea Prizm Skimmer, November 5, 2008

    By Trippick

"The skimmer does not pull enough waste from the water.

The pump is difficult to remove to service because you have to remove the whole skimmer from the side of the tank - the only access to the pump is from the back.

The skimmer is not versatile as it can only be used as a hang on and not as an in-sump skimmer.

The skimmer will only fit over the side of small (really small) tanks. I have had to hacksaw mine apart and then re-join it together to get it to fit over my 75 gallon QT tank.

The skimmer is noisy - it has bad air sucking sounds after a few months operation."

  12. if im not wrong, need to mod the tunze 9002 collection cup for JBJ

Hi Bro. I believe for the 24G tank you will need to modify as the canopy covers all the way. For 28G no need to, as the canopy does not cover the filtration area.

Thanks for the thread. Had seen it. It was one of the thread that make me realise the limitation of 24G and one of the consideration factor as well that made me hunt for the 28G model.
