  1. bro, I do not have your tank dimension but I think hanging a mce 300 or 600 might not be possible for your tank IOS.

seems like tunze 9002 might be your only option.

bro vurbul did it on his 28G nano. I've yet to drop by his place to take a look. But off my head i reckon the skimmer looks abit too bulky...

About the Tunze..agree with you..looks like it. I'm hunting to search for any of the bros using the Tunze 9002 and see how they modify/rearrange their filter compartment.

  2. Just realise yours is the HQI. Do monitor the over heat in the canopy as well as heat in the cabinet due to the chiller.

I had a 150W MH before and even for an open top tank, the heat was too much to take.

I highly suspect that your water gets heated up a lot.

for the cabinet heat, check it out after your tank light has switch on for 3 - 4 hrs, then observe when the chiller kicks in, once it is able to reach its intended temperature, go check out the heat. This is the time when it is at the hottest.

Yes sir. Will definitely monitor. In the meantime, i open the canopy just to be safe and the cabinet as well. OK, will monitor the heat after chiller kicks in and stopping after reaching intended temperature. BTW i set the chiller temperature to 26 degrees...to achieve a consistent 27 degree on the tank (noticed by the temperature meter i placed) Is the temperature i set right? What temperature do you set yours may i ask?

http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87946&view=findpost&p=901150 The boyu box. not many people use them for marine tanks. Check with the other JBJ owners what they are using. if possible, small pieces of live rocks are the best. If not , then prob biohommes.

Yes. saw the boyu box...searching for JBJ threads now

Thank you for reading... sometimes I type and type but not sure if anyone reads them... :P

Personally I would drop some food pellets, add some bacteria and let it further cycle. just kiasu mentality. When I just set up my tank with live sand, I was also dosing bacteria every week in the initial setup.

Saw that janet did pack for you the test kit, do use them and monitor.

Of course i'm reading and am appreciative of your feedback..still learning and need all the tips i can get especially for the start. Yup, with regards to test kit..i intend to begin monitoring after the 1st week..

Will take your advice as well...gonna grab some bacteria to dose...any brand that you recommend or currently using?

  3. Hi All,

Need your advice..I intend to change the current skimmer and wondering which would be the best option..

seen in threads about Tunze 9002 skimmer...but realised by buying these..i have to make some minor adjustments to relocate my filter compartment

Also heard about deltec MCE300 and has good reviews about it. A bro i know well is also using it..Is it an overkill?

thinking of how i can best utilise the present compartment just by replacing another better skimmer ...

    Your opinions appreciated. Thanks!

Btw my thread of my tank

  4. nice to see your setup bro.

you finally manage to get your tank :)

    - where did you put the fan arh?

    - Also the horizontal rock on the top seems to be blocking the view. if you put corals on top and on the rocks behind, will you be able to see them?

    - Also do monitor the chiller's heat dissipation if you place it in the cabinet.

    - you are using ceremic rings?

:off: read your comprehensive thread about bacteria http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87556

quick question...i already put live sand...do you think i should still dose bacteria?

  5. nice to see your setup bro.

the rocks behind is intended to put my best coral in future. about the horizontal rock..i agree with you might relocate if it blocks the intended coral i intend to put in future....

    err...what is ceremic rings?

    Thanks bro! Yes...finally....

Initially was putting the fan inside and the fan blowing towards the cupboard door.. then monitoring... :whistle

but realise later that the heat is still present and not circulating well...btw i bought a DYMAX fan..

I then put it at the back of the cupboard as there is already and opening and ledge it there...
