i ve trying to culture macroalgae (like fern, grape & etc) in my 4" FOWLR refigium (2" tank) but no good result (macroalgae keep turning white & dying). i am t8 NEC 6500k as the light 24/7 lighting. maybe i dun didnt put any calcium, trace element or magnesium into the tank (just like the coral tank)? so the macroalgae wont survive? any bro/sis pls gif me some advice here?

mine hv no luck at all.. i tried about 10 of them all are RIP.. mostly due to aggression by my large angels & tangs & starvation recently i get smarter to try it again this time i make it 1st then i bought a racoon & a pearlscale.... but it all dead after a week ...i suspect due to toxin poisoining when i started culture macroalgae... conclusion BUTTERFLy fishes are v sensitive

mine manage to survive about month ..feeding only on bloodworms.. try to soak it with vitamin hope to prolong its life but not successful ...next time pls make sure it eat first b4 u buying it i want to try to get one in the future u should try other variety of food like brine shrimp, bloodword, vegetable...& various of pellet...hopefully it eat.. good luck

so cant do anything bout it? better not to culture macroalgae.... so sad la..2 fish died but i hv skimmer & air pump running in the sump so this still cause oxygen depletion? or maybe cause by pH fluactuation? cause my tank only hv macroalgae... when i off the light at the sump then cause increase of co2 & cause pH to drop & when i on the light the pH increase?

so the "gametes" will harm the fishes? yesterday i off the light for bout 8hrs when i reach home at 6pm i found my pearlscale butterfly is dead...(which has been with me for bout a week & started to feed) so i continue to light my refugium (continuosly 24hrs) & actually i saw some growth with my grapes, spaghetti & others...& found some of them actually became white & didnt bother to filter it out....& worse still this morning i found my racoon butterfly is dead too....(also a week old & start to feed furiously ) is it the dead is cause by the gametes? or butterflies is too fragile (my cause by cynite?) i ve no luck with butterfly!!!

hi all reefers, i want to know if is it okay to 24hours switch on the light in sump so that macro algae won't go asexual? i use normal "daylight" bulb to do this. but i found out some of it is turning brown & the question is is this condition the macro algae can grow? btw do macro algae need strong water flow? thanx in advance

hi good ppl out there, i want some opinion to solve my problem here. recently i have diy made siphon overflow using purely 1" pvc pipe to connect my 4'x1.5'x1.5' main tank to the overflow tank (2'x1'x1'). and i am using Astro 1.8l/h return pump using 0.5" piping. everything work fine. i manage to fine tune the incoming & outgoing water within the overlow tank. but the problem is that the water level in this overflow tank varies about 5 to 10mm during the day & night time . just like over ocean. during the day the water level goes down & at nite is rise. so with this problem i cant do my auto top up system....so anyone pls help!!! the siphon overflow system is actually i copied from here... http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...=delirium&st=30

MOST PROBABLY U ADDED NEW FISH & CAUSE INTERNAL BACTERIA TO THIS FISH.....QUARANTINE IT & TREAT IT WIF INTERNAL BACTERIA MEDICINE ...& HOPE IT WILL FINE.....

i just wonder where can i get vlamingi tang & how much izzit? really fascinated with its beauty...
