hi jleejk,
Tks for your advise. Btw, you using 2 units of mh & T5 blue light?
If yes, mind to share with me what time u on/off the 1st mh, 2nd mh & T5 blue?
hehehe actually now i m using single 250W SE hamilton 14kk wif luminrac supplement wif single t8 6500k bulb. i on the 6500k 1hr b4 & off 1hr after my mh is off. i switch on my mh at 3pm & off at 11pm.
u can power ur MH 8-12hrs daily. depends on ur tank needs. so far mine is ok. i might wan to increase further. FYI using only t8 6500k the algae oledi grow like crazy...i cant imagine reefer using t5 or mh for 6500k. but i notice my poccilora edouyxi & verucosa red color has enhance after my t8 6500k supplement.

If you are using actinic supplemtation, there is no need to use a 14K light. 10K would be better for you. Personally, for most bulbs, there is not that much difference in a 10K or 14K light in terms of blueness, unless you go up to 20K.
bro i dun agree wif u... i hv seen XM 10kk...more yellowish color, blv 14kk crisp white...i m personal using hamilton 14kk is crisp blue. so kenot say which is blue or yellow ..but comparing temperature kelvin but need to consider the brand too.
s ofar XM 10kk got the highest par according sanjay joshi...but to me damn yellow man....definitely need lots of actinic to eliminate the yellow color.

10K is suitable for yellow, red, pink acros & 14kk is for blue, green, purple acros.
so if u wan to hv twin MH..i will go for 1 10kk & 1 14kk. so u can place the acros accoding to the lighting zone to thrive. just my 2cents. to balance off the yellowish color get more actinic t5. just my 2cents.

for the rapid respond...i i m not intend to use actinic is possible..so i quite like the hamilton...& blv bulb never seen b4...will consider.

Agreed on the LA3 with 250w for a 3ftx3ft.
now i m more confident to choose 250W MH. thanx anyone....
now again i only will hv a single MH to play around ..a 10kk, 14kk or 20kk bulb?
i seen hamilton 14kk 250W in action i kinda like those color. so it is good enuf for overall sps?? i heard that Pink, purple, red, and yellow sps like 10kk bulb & Blue and green sps like 14kk...so is it true? so any recommendation??
-
For 3x3 area and SPS better to go for LA3 (non-mini) with 400W but slight problem as the 400W MH might burn the softies and LPS since the height is only 1.5ft.
250W with LA3 mini might have sufficient coverage at the sides..
thanx bro for those precious opinions...
so conclusion is that 250W wif LA3 lumenarc shud cover the 3x3ft area rite?
i dun expect 100% cover ...i will satisfied wif 90% coverage.
any other opinion?

i m in process in setting up a new sps dominant tank( sps on top, some LPS & shroom at the bottom), i intend to use a single MH...a 250W wif lumenarc or 400W wif spyder reflector. my question is whether the 250W wif lumenarc can cover 90% area for the tank size of 3ftx3ftxh1.5ft tank??
or if for single 250W MH wif lumenarc what is the tank size recommended (which can cover 90% area)?
& if for single 400W MH wif spyder reflector what is the tank size recommended (which can cover 90% area)? thanx lots.

i don really trust auto feeder...
well.....most of those Ang mo have only one 6 inch beckett but they have every ideal husbandry such as changing water once a mth or 2 weeks. also they also have other means of nitrate export such as keeping refigum...
as for me refugium r good handle nutrient export at certain level...except u hv v big tank/sump dedicated to it...i see refugium as my fish food source.. just my 2cents again..
i only believe in the ehiem autofeeder now..got a few taiwan made one but all timing is out so frustrated..
-
how to feed 4- 5 times..
need to work mah...
well..at days she will feed alot
and for me i will feed lots of coral food...
this may foul water.......
bro got the autofeeder maa...except if u r feeding the frozen food..
-
the problem i have is my wife feeds alot...1-2 times per day
1-2 times isnt alot ...i got reefer fren who feed 4-5 time aday...best 3-4 with small amount aday rather than 1-2 times heavy feeding..just my 2cents..all reefer want their fish to b pui pui

just use a cloth and a long stick (lantern festival coming) then vola...that the musicall cleaning tools... or use those long solid plastic straws from macdonald balloon..
but i got another better solution that YOU WONT FIND THE ALGAE AN EYE SORE.
sell it away
u like to psycho ppl to sell their stuff...
hehehe till now happy wif my baby...will definite let u know when i wan to sell...
-
can be clean one lah...just like those... musical instruments lah...
don worry...if u afraid..than sell to me at cheaper price lah
haha what type of musical instrument cleaner?? hehehe maybe me hv to standby one for cleaning..
-
one md 55 should be able to handle the load first lah..
btw u can add some nice and cheap mushroom in...those are quite hardy....
yup...i will get some those shrooms things into it..look more natural.
then hv to upgrade the lighting...
-
yes i agreed with u... overkill then underkill.
better to have a bigger skimmer than to spend time sourcing for another skimmer to replace. it.
yeah tha's the idea bro!!! i dun wan to spend xtra money to upgrade later...selling & buying end up i loose money & time...so just for once & for all. if not enuf power..then get another md55 to fire!!! then shud handle the xtra load.
-
hehehe better overkill then underkill...
shii...i dun intend to clean it if possible...muahahahaha..
-
Clear acrylic everywhere means good? When it comes to cleaning then Not all parts are accessible by hand
yup..i do agree wif u bro..hopefully the algae wont grow so fast..
luckily my tank is fowlr..no coraline algae..normall algae shud b ok...coz most of the parts is detachable...& can b clean...or another way just keep the skimmer in a dark area...so less algae growth...just my 2cents.
-
With reasonable bioload/feeding, I am very sure it can handle it. What kinda tank are you aiming for?
hehehe i m a fishman..so the 6footer is fowlr...with tangs & angels..
