  4. thanks for the advice, lucky my uncle has not ordered for me yet. And yes, its pretty expensive.. anyway after 3 days into the cycle , these are some readings from my first test 1 - kH = 8 DH 2 - pH = 8.5 3 - Salinity = 1.020 4 - NO2 = 0.3mg/l 5 - NO3 = 5.0 mg/l 6 - NO2(SALIFERT) - 0 7 - NO3(SALIFERT) - 2mg/l 8 - NH4 = 0.5 9 temp at 27 degrees Think that this time round..cycle is much slower even though the LR are all 2nd handed
  5. thats what i thought too... but what if i use crushed corals? u think it will do the job? BTW my uncle recommended me to use bioballs in the overflow... he was mentioning something called BIOHOME... anyone heard of it before?

  8. oh ok...will keep that in mind. but must i really get hanging ones im lazy to drill holes or does anyone provide drilling with the sale of the lights together? am thinking of DE type that DIYed in the hood itself. unless im convinced that hanging types are better for the growth hehe
  9. yes archer, don't give up. Though i just started the hobby a few months back, i have alot of screams and yells in my family... but i do it the army way.....go in and come out.. soon it will be fine:) strive on!

  11. am thinking of getting mH...but how many u think is needed for clams? is there any mH that doesnt require hanging from the celing? are u talking about the valve in the pic ?

  13. thanks for the advice diabolus. i only have 3.5-4 inch sandbed( i dunno if its considered deep) for the main tank so what do u think i should add in the sump? apart from the rio26 which im contemplating as the water flow will keep me awake whole nite...hehe and as for the lights, am thinking of going into softies and clams. But one thing for sure, that is im not ready to have any drilling or hanging of mH in my room hehe.
  14. cant do...like u said that 3rd compartment is too small.. BTW that seafan is a dead one... it came along with the LR i bought of some other reefers today.

  16. oh the reason y im using macro because its bought less than a month ago. Am thinking of upgrading soon when the future LS come complaining about the bioload in my dream....ya..am thinking of getting a better one after i save up for the lights. another pic

  20. Hi all, these are some pictures of my new tank that i would like to share with all of my bros and sis in SRC. Pls feel free to comment and flame me if i have done anything wrong. specs are.... 3x2x2 12mm cabinet resun CL-650 chiller macro 250 skimmer around 70-80kg of LR rio HF14 as return pump seio 820 am still hestitating on what lights i should get hehe 1.   22. oh.. no wonder... my valve is open to the max think i will off the skimmer for 1/2 hr when i feed. maybe it will solve the prob uh huh.. will update again.
